Gravatar Mind you, the top 1% of earners in the nation also make around 21% of the wealth, so given the vast income disparity between the top 1%, the top 5-10% and the lower 50%, this is really just smoke and mirror "poor little rich guy" caterwauling.

Confused about the difference between income and wealth, eh Quakerjono?

Such confusion serves wealthy Obama supporters such as Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and the Google boys well. The politically useful envy of the Left's rubes is gently steered away from grasping at the wealth of, say, the Kennedys with their posh Cape Cod digs and their coupons to clip for walking around money.

Also, if the top 1% of income earners make only 21% of all income, why are they stuck with paying 95% of the taxes? Ahh, because greed is the desire for the unearned and there's no one greedier than someone eaten by envy of other people.

The Soak The Rich greedheads miss the obvious: no one ever got a job from a poor person and income is what happens when wealth is put to productive uses. (Assets kept out of production, such as the Kennedy compound, out to be called illth.) Sucking away income as the vampire-like kleptocrats wish to do is sucking away people's earnings. The confusion Quakerjono displays also serves to keep the other side of the barbell distribution of Obama voters poor and stupid. It all works out swimmingly for the party of an aristocracy based on race slavery, the party of Jim Crow, the party of Bull Connor, and the party that remains holding open the Gates of racialism and classism.

Oh, no, I'm quite clear on the difference between sitting on $10 million in the bank, say, and earning $10 million a year minus various expenses. It's simply immaterial to my point.

"Also, if the top 1% of income earners make only 21% of all income, why are they stuck with paying 95% of the taxes?"

Because they don't and I don't believe either NDT or myself ever said they did...the top 50% of earners do, at least, according to Rush Limbaugh (among others). They do so not because of a disparity of taxation, but because of a disparity of income. Here, I fear, Rush would disagree, but far better economists than either he or I have pointed this out. This highlights the disparity between what the top make and what the bottom make. Certainly, one may ascribe any number of reasons for this disparity (which you'll again notice I didn't), but to deny the disparity exists is to deny reality. To go further and use it as some sort of fiscal cross strapped to the backs or Poor Rich White Guys(tm) while they're forced to walk down Wall Street, being pelted with rotten fruit and stones from welfare mothers is...well, it's rather poetic, really, but is also simply out of touch with the situation on the ground.

As for the rest of your Randian sophistry, it is neither original nor particularly compelling. Check your premises, dear, I believe your virtuous Athenian is showing his slip.

Gravatar It is immaterial to his point, which is that he has a perfect right to steal money.
