I say that we have the 1st 1000 yard receiver on the roster as we speak. Cureski, Lucky, Swift...take your pick.

Dude, great stuff there. I personally think it is not going to happen for a long, long time - if ever. If North O. Cally couldn't do it, I don't think Bo Pali will do it.
If you need me, I'm somewhere in the middle of estado de mexico fleeing the policia de el estado Arizona. Apparently, I violated that restraining order and now I am holding off the police with the threat of posting new pictures of Casey Connelly. So far, Ive gotten a free taco.....

Wilson Thomas was the most awesomest player ever. He played basketball too. I was a member of his not official fan club. He was like Mo Purify before there ever was a Mo. You just throw the ball within 10 yards of his general vicinity and he would grab it. He plays in the arena football league for the Arizona Rattlers now. Fast and tall - perfect for that kind of game.

Rose- the pink ones with cheese pay me baby. the regular pink ones take a valid credit card.
doombob-coluldn't agree more about Wilson Thomas. Imagine if Crouch could pass and imagine if 99% of our playbook wasn't run behind Fonoti.

Didn't the NCAA recently add bowl games to the season stats? If so, how does that change Johnny Rodgers' numbers? Did he get the 58 yards needed in '72?

Had Ganz been the QB last year Purify would have definitely hit 1,000 yards. Unlike Keller, Ganz (1) recognized MP as the playmaker at WR, and (2) was not afraid to throw the ball downfield.
In the three games Ganz started, MP had 402 yards receiving and scored 6 TDs. In eight games with Keller at the helm, MP amassed just 412 yards and 3 TDs. Although the stats from the last three games were inflated by two blowouts and running up the score against KSU, the disparity is so striking that I do not feel it can be disregarded.
Overall, I'm torn on the issue of a 1,000 yard receiver. On the one hand, as long as you're moving the ball through the air, who cares? On the other, it's certainly nice to have a go-to guy around for clutch situations as well as to otherwise distract the D so as to open things up for other players.
Although no one has stood out as yet, I think that between the young talent already on the roster (Paul, Holt, Gilleylen) and that which is incoming (Cooper and Bell), we'll find our 1,000 yard man sooner or later. [Personally, though, I'd trade all the 1,000 yard receivers in the world for a defense that plays with tenacity and lays its opponents out every once in a while.]

Interesting question captainbozo. Let me look into that tonight.
Good thoughts ADM. I agree with your tradeoff, but the 1,000 yard receiver doesn't seem like that much of a unicorn that it can't exist at Nebraska. Especially when you consider we've had the other two milestones in 1,000 yard rushers and a 3,000 yard passer.

I don't think captainbozo's mention of bowls now being included in current records/career stats is necessarily retroactive for former players...
At least, judging from this, I don't think so:
http://www.huskers.com//pdf1/788...2&
DB_OEM_ID=100
Right at the top, it says, "(Regular-season games from 1946 to 2001. The NCAA began including bowl games in statistics in 2002. Top bowl game performances are noted with an asterisk.)"
Take, for example, "Consecutive 100 yard games" (Page 4, column 1) Rozier and Ahman's numbers have asterisks noting that their streaks reached to 12 when bowls are considered, but the records stand at 11 in the books, tied with LP.
So for that, I think Rodgers stays put at 942...but the point is a good one, as Rodgers had 3 catches for 71 yards in the '73 orange bowl...it seems unfair, considering that the very first record from the link I noted has Pork Chop holding the most rushing attempts per game from the '03 Alamo bowl. I think they should go back and retroact all former bowl numbers into past records/stats, but it doesn't look like this is the case.

I meant "...has Pork Chop holding the most rushing attempts IN A game..." there at the end.

Thanks DT, you saved me the work. I agree it seems unfair not to go back and add bowl game stats to the old guys. Maybe we can start a letter-writing campaign or something.
