Say Russia decided to build a case against the US to start a war based on George W Bush being a ruthless dictator and killing thousands of innocent people and trying to cover up the abuse of so many more, and then took over San Diego and tortured and killed your parents and hundreds and thousands of your friends and neighbors. Do you suppose there'd be some unruly American kids out in the streets throwing rocks at the Russian patrol men as they drove by?
Would it be okay that they took out some frustrations on the kids by beating the snot out of them? Not one or two punches, but countless blows to the head and legs and face and spitting on them and continually punching their groin? Helmetted headbutts to the unhelmetted little faces? Kicking them while they're down?
I don't care what the situation may or may not have been, but uniformed and armed soldiers continuously trouncing little kids - regardless of the situation - is cowardly, unprofessional and downright disgusting.

In the british army we set ourselves very high standards, If any of our troops drop below these standards, then they let not only themselves down but all of the armed services and britain. It is the fact we don't result to these practices that has enabled us to carry out successful peacekeeping missions throughout the land. If someone attacks you in a situation like the basara you defend yourself, you do not seek revenge. It justs provokes the situation. It is these tactics which have lead to the british army being a lot better respected than the US forces, who continully provoke attacks and hatred against them, because of their agressive and ignorant tactics, there is a general feeling within the british armed forces that the american millitary has maintained and exaserbated the insurgency though its stupidity. The news of the world is not fool hardy in publishing the video, it is the british troops who carried out the beatings who are responsible for any backlash against british forces. The general feeling I am getting is that most british troops want them to be made examples of, to show the world that the british army does not support or condone brutality in any way shape or form

It's not like these kids were cute little 5 year olds out for a romp. They look to be late teens early 20's, and they had grenades. They assaulted these soldiers.
Sam, I am sorry, but I disagree. There is and was no point in airing this video. They should have addressed the situation with the soldiers directly, time in the brig, dismissal, whatever punishment they choose. But the "right to know" in this case just provides further fodder for the moslem extremists to chew.
And no, again, I can't blame the soldiers for doing what they did. As I said, try putting yourself in their shoes. These "kids" just tried to kill them, I'm frankly amazed that the soldiers didn't just shoot them.

Rationalize this all you want, Jenn, but they DID NOT have grenades and even if they (ages 13,14,16 and 18 at the time)did have weapons and were trying to kill the soldiers, is excessive beating and torturing really necessary? I think 'ol Will, and a couple others are not "right on." Those Brit soldiers had every right to use force until the combatants (yes, as soon as they attacked the Brits, they became enemy combatants) were either subdued or incapacitated. Choosing to beat the snot out of them vice shooting them probably was a poor choice; the "kids" will just be throwing grenades, rocks, molatov cocktails, etc again next week.
