This Is Not A Democracy, It's A Republic........

A couple of things:
Asbestos and pastries
Are you surprised that it's the Republicans who are against people collecting damages for criminal negligence after their health has been ruined by asbestos?
And do you want some freedom fries with that burger?

Gee Mad, I'd be happy just to get compensation for the f*cking rent I'd already paid for the house of death. That's not asking for a lot. How about the hotel we stayed in for a week? Or maybe the weeks of lost wages.
I'm a Republican, and I am not against people getting what they are owed. But I am against bullshit claims, and people mooching off the system.
It's all about persoanl accountability. We were told professional asbestos removers were coming in to remove said asbestos. Just as most of our neighbors had done. That is not what occured. In fact, the guys who did it were illegals, all the more reason to close the border and send 'em all packing.
If we'd had some kind of warning, as those in New Orleans had, we'd have cleaned the house out completely, or just moved. I mean my husband is a mover, we could have had everything we owned in a truck in less than 4 hours. If we'd had warning.
I don't eat french fries, and I still call them that. Same with french toast.

Did you even read what you posted?
"For different reasons, liberals and conservatives and interest groups across the political spectrum have united to defeat the bill by setting up procedural hurtles."
It's a flawed Bill.
Wow Mad, I'd come to expect better from you.

The bill's supporters needed 60 votes to keep the measure alive on the Senate floor. They had 59 before Frist, R-Tenn., switched his vote at the last minute to leave open the option of bringing it up again.
...to leave open the option of bringing it up again.
Frist is for the bill -- uh, Senate Majority Leader, Bill Frist? YES, THAT ONE. He's switched his vote so the bill would keep coming back like some kind of irksome Cosby Show episode involving the kids doing a choreographed performance for their grandparents on the stairs -- not because he's against it.
Most Republicans are against Asbestos claims and back tort reform in regard to them. And don't try to dispute it, Evil Queen Heartless, cause I've already printed up the bumper stickers. REPUBLICANS FOR DEATH BY ASBESTOS!

Dude, considering my circumstances, you are an asshole.

I stand by my implication that Republican politicians backing tort reform in regard to asbestos claims are a metaphorical equivalent of your landlord's lawyers.
Jenn, no personal harm meant -- at all.
Switching topics, a squirrel is fighting a crow for a piece of pizza crust just outside my window. It's riveting!

I generally like squirrels, as they are usually cute with long bushy tails.
Crows on the other hand are the devils spawn. Especially that loud bastard that caws outside our bedroom @ 4:30 in the morning. If I wanted a bird waking me up that early, I'd buy a rooster, and live on a farm.
