I'm guessing St Patrick's Day has some sort of Irish/Religious signifigance to the world?

Funny thing is, my husband lived in Ireland for 6+ years, and they didn't make much of a big deal out of it.

It is a Christian Holiday. St. Patrick served a 30 year mission that drove the pegan religions out of Ireland (snakes). The modern celebration has taken on a quite secular theme though. Traditionally it was a day for giving thanks and preying for missionaries world wide.
