This Is Not A Democracy, It's A Republic........

Gravatar Man, his grammar is nearly as bad as both Jenn's and Matt's.

Gravatar Whah!!!!!!!!!! At least I'm not teaching ESL.

Gravatar How's about the news that Bush/Cheney authorized the leak?

That's great he's on video vowing to find out who did it and saying something like, "if there's a leaker, I demand to know who it is."

Class act.

Gravatar Yup, if true, that's pretty bad.

How come you never actually address the post itself?

Gravatar Well, aside from not really getting passionate about this issue in particular, I think your post really sums it up - it's a joke that this guy is teaching children. At least he's not having sex with them, though. (That we know of).

What - do you want me to argue that this guy is a doing a "heckuva job" and is a tribute to our society?

I can if you just want me to stir the pot a little.

Gravatar Without the Stars being visible in the picutre, these folks might be burning the jersey of a rival soccer team in Mexico like Chivas...

Gravatar Except Pat, that it is a picture taken at a "protest" earlier this week. Where they were going through U.S. flags like a hooker through johns.

Gravatar Pete, you're quite the irritant.

This is my first time here but I can tell you that it's generally considered bad form to derail someone's post by changing the subject.

If you don't feel passionatly about people flooding your country ILLEGALLY and driving the cost of labor through the floor, then you have SERIOUS problems.

Gravatar James, your first sentence nails it quite clearly.

Though Pete does my job of showing lefties for what they are, quite well, himself. Saves me time.

Gravatar James, Pete thinks it's peachy that the undocumented visitors are able to find meaningful work, while most of the rest of us think the flood of illegal aliens is really killing our economy. Sometimes, I think he just likes to stir the pot.

Gravatar Damn y'all, take a pill already.

You're jumping my ass and I was making nice in this thread. You too, Jenn. Shame on all of you righties.

You're all putting words in my mouth and dogging me for something you know absolutely nothing about. My views on immigration? Maybe they match yours, maybe they don't, that's not the point here.

The point was that I didn't feel passionately about responding to this post about a teacher who obviously should not be teaching. Big fucking whoop. If the post was solely about immigration, maybe I'd have responded differently. When a post goes in depth about a jackass teacher, you're supposed to respond about the teacher. It's pretty obvious.

I did like coming here, and even felt like Jenn and I had a special love-hate relationship going, but you're all just a bunch of narrow-minded conservatives who hate anybody who doesn't think you like you so much that you're willing to put words their mouths just to jump their ass.

Well, fuck off fascists. I'll let you all continue your like-minded pansie party where you might just let the hate boil over so much that you're impervious to actually taking a second to learn something or at least expand your mind from a different view.

Get back to your talking points now have a fun little ego circle jerk.

Assholes.

Gravatar Yes Pete, I do love to "hate" you. And most of the time you are funny. But you do steer well off topic much of the time. As you did with the post that was directly dedicated to illegal immigration.

But, I do welcome your comments. I like having a "balance" point. But, geez, you need to stand the heat to stay in this kitchen.

This guy, ANON, will be the second person ever to be banned from this site....(Anyone else think this is way over the top????)

I'll take Pete anyday.

Gravatar Wow, I had no idea the commenting on this website was so robust. Here I've been hanging out at the Red Voice when all the commenting goes on over here!

"If you don't feel passionatly about people flooding your country ILLEGALLY and driving the cost of labor through the floor, then you have SERIOUS problems."

It's really distant for some of us - I'll say, I've lived in NY and everyone here who talks about it talks about it in the abstract.

Gravatar Actually Dave that's a good point. You and Pete will like each other.

Living in San Diego County, you are confronted with the harsh realities of illegal immigration daily. It was not so much the same on Long Island. But I only lived there for 5 years, 27 years ago.

Gravatar For whatever reason, haloscan isn't accepting trackbacks from. I don't know what the problem is. Typepad says it sends the ping, but haloscan seems to not be interested. In any case, I'd already linked to this before your comment.

Gravatar Long Island supposedly has a gigantic Salvadoran and other Latin American population(s), but I have yet to see it. I live in a West Indes neighborhood in Brooklyn and there are plenty of new immigrants. But I go to school and work on Wall Street so it's a little tough to see the "problem." Obviously, it's an issue. It is just hard for some of us to get passionate.

Gravatar That is an honest interpretation Dave.

Unfortunately, if you were to read any of my archival posts on illegals in San Diego, you'd see there is a massive problem with them.

We've had several hospitals forced to shut down, due to the illegals using their E.R. as their primary care facilities. They don't pay. We have a massive drug and gang issue, especially south of the 8. A vast majority of them have no interest whatsoever in "becoming American."

Someone mentioned earlier that they were Irish, or about people waving Irish flags. BIG DIFFERENCE.

I am of Scottish ancestory. I went to Scottish games a a youth. I have a carving of our family crest. And yet, come 4th of July, I wave my AMERICAN flag. Because I am American. Not Scottish.

Gravatar I think gang and drug stuff and overcrowding the health system has much more to do with poverty than with their status or their heritage.

It's difficult when these things are happening - we need to stop people from coming in illegally. But we have to make the distinction between the evils of Mexicanism and the evils of poverty.

I hate to say this, but if people don't have the ability to pay or the health insurance to pay, they should not be making the system unusable for others. But it fundamentally feels wrong to say that. SO there has to be a way to fix it without abandoning people.

Gravatar Interesting that you should mention "poverty". Take Abel. One of the illegals that lived with me in that 8 unit complex in Pacific Beach. (I being the only legal U.S. citizen there.) At the time I was employed as the assistant manager of a very large national upscale home decor store. I made about $17.75 an hour. He worked as a gardener. Cash under the table. After taxes, what I brought home barely covered rent and car payments.

Abel, living with 16 other illegals in a 2 bedroom apartment made what would equate to about $35.00 an hour. Had no car payment, paid no taxes, paid no soc.sec., no disability, $75.00 in rent a month. He had plenty of beer money, and money for hookers, and drugs.

Who lived in poverty?

It's a complete friggin' myth that they get paid below min. wage. In fact many field pickers get paid by the bushel, making very good wages. They just choose not to be a part of the system, by entering the country illegally, and they use our system to their benefit. Free healthcare for them. Free schooling for their numerous babies. Then, they have this poor outward appearence of living in abject poverty, when in reality, they have better car stereo systems than most, blow a lot of their money on clothes, and send the rest of it to Mexico.

It's a load of crap. And I speak with auth-or-it-A.

Gravatar The point was that I didn't feel passionately about responding to this post about a teacher who obviously should not be teaching. Big fucking whoop.

Pete, there's an old saying that goes, "if you have nothing nice to say, why say it"... I'll modify it a bit to reflect my point... "If nothing in the post motivates you to respond, why comment at all."

It never ceases to amaze me, how many times I get comments on my blog that have NOTHING to do about the topic, not to mention the flames I get for removing them. Keep it on point and people tend to listen to both sides.

Shame on all of you righties.

Ahem... I'm not a 'righty', nice to see you're 'above' labels.

Well, fuck off fascists.

Cursing is the crutch of the verbally weak.

Gravatar Jenn -

I have to trust you, because I think you're being honest even when you're wrong. But do you think that's the exception rather than the rule? It seems like there would be no question about this debate if that's the way things really are going.

Gravatar *not "have to trust you", should have read, "I do trust you." Sorry, I didn't mean to come off like that.

Gravatar Really Dave, I have seen blatent rascism and seen the hospitals closed, reason given, too many illegals.

Abel, in fact was a jovial guy, he loved to tell me all about how easy it was to get rich in good old America.

When I was in high school, one of my two closest friends was Mexican. They were illegal, she was their anchor baby. I loved her, she was great, and we had a good time hanging out at my house, or elsewhere. Because we could not go to her house. Her parents wanted NO pinje Americano's in their home. And the words they would say, how they would speak about this country. That was 13+ years ago in the Bay Area, in a rather affluent neighborhood, which, they ruined within a few years of living there. With drugs and gang actively and a complete lack of desire to maintain a house in good order.

They just do not adapt, they do not assimilate AT all, they have no desire too. Many believe in La Raza and Azatlan, and they believe we are here in their country, and they want it back. (Of course forgetting the fact that 1.) we bought itand 2.) It belonged to the natives they stole it from first.)

Gravatar I love Pete's comment:
"I'll let you all continue your like-minded pansie party where you might just let the hate boil over..."

Oh and by the way preceding that was:

"Well, fuck off fascists."

I am not sure but I think that is a quite oxymoronic post little guy. Too funny. I guess I can't speak for all but certainly for myself, when someone like Pete calls me names I am not hurt. I wear it as a badge of honor.

Gravatar Hi Jenn,

Just stopped by -- hadn't been here before.

Agree with your take on the teacher.

Seems to me the main problem in this story isn't that the teacher crossed some line by suggesting his students stand up and speak out, but that his own language skills are so awful that he should not even be teaching at all.

What a disgrace.

Anyway -- I usually give you so much grief at TBV, I figured I owed you a chance to return the compliment...

.

Gravatar "but that his own language skills are so awful that he should not even be teaching at all."

Si Senor Neil.

Gravatar I have a posting about this guy on my blog. He was on the radio in Houston explaining himself. He came off as a fool.
