They contend it was required for "self-defense." So I guess in their eyes, we beat them if we bomb their eateries. Interesting. These people are so lacking logic… it defies logic to try and explain it or understand them.
Now you have Iran using the same language, but with a larger military and nuclear weapons on the way…do we want to let this slide?

I don't want to let it slide, but we know that the left, will cry and whine and pander until we pull out of the ME again, and will only wake up when a nuke goes off in the local Starbucks.

While I am sure that a nuke in the Starbucks would make riveting film at 11, I would much rather we pre-empted that with a flexing of our military abilities.
Iran must be shut down. Nuclear research for power generation is one thing, using the power generation as an excuse to develop the enriched weapons grade stuff is quite another.

No kidding Cary, but we have a real problem on the left. They wave some signs and cry about soldiers dying, and the public as a whole wants to back down.
Unfortunately, they forgot about 9/11,the Cole, the embassy bombings and all. We did nothing for decades and look where it's gotten us.
No one wants war, and for a long time we stayed out of it....but we were officially invited on 9/11 in a big way, and the only way to r.s.v.p is to take them out where they live, plot, plan and kill. Unfortunate, but factual.

I believe they target places like sandwich shops is to show that no place is safe, thus terrorism.

Screw being nice with Smart bombs.
CARPET BOMBING now that is awe inspiring. The drone of 20-30 B52 for about 10 minutes, realizing there is no place to hide, then the whistling noize, then problem all gone.

Personally, if we'd had more shock and awe in the beginning we'd be in a better place in Iraq right now.

The world is no longer willing to fight a real war.

Part of the problem is that war is not the terrible carnage of human life it once was. When it was hand to hand you witnessed it up close and personal, then came bow and arrow and you got to stand back a bit, then guns and you got to stand back a little further. Now a war can be waged from your living room like a video game none of the destruction is remotely real to you. When it was hand to hand it was lets get this over and get back home. Now its lets play another senario that was fun.

No, that is a very small portion of it.
The problem is that when we find a town that has excessive violence. Stashes of weapons and explosives. You can't drive through in a military convoy without being shot. Well when there is a town like that troops should be pulled back and the town should be carpet bombed by B-52s.
But the world is no longer to see a town or village destroyed.
You mentioned it earlier!!
We need to have Operation Arc Light II.

Well thats another part of the problem. In WWII when a town was taken it was ocupied and the military moved to a new objective. But the "modern way of warfare" I think started in Korea and perfected in Nam was to go take the town, pull back to a "safe" zone and then take the town again next week. Just because the large towns are "controlled" does not mean the country is controlled. At least in Nam the safe zones were moved once in a while in Iraq its more like a giant shpping center with maps showing where everything is so they can plan an ambush or attack

The take a rown pull back method seems to be a problem. Take Falluja... the took it, then let it revert, took it again.
Unfortunately war is ugly, and people can't stand ugly on their nightly news.
I say again, that if we'd shocked and awed a whole lot more in the beginning, we'd be a lot further along.
