This Is Not A Democracy, It's A Republic........

Gravatar First of all, you're assuming that the 70 percent of the country that is now in disapproval of the Bush Administration (and the 72 percent that is in disapproval of the job Congress is doing) are all extreme liberals that read Daily Kos or listen to Air America.

Neither one of those sources are the voice for everyone who disapproves with the direction our country is taking politically. In fact, I think you'd find that a large portion of that 70 percent are republicans.

At any rate, Al Franken is not the voice of everyone who is in disagreement with Jenn, as you'd like to think. Nor is Fox News the voice of everyone who is pro-Bush, though it's probably pretty close.

You're suggesting that since Fox News is No. 1 in the ratings, then the polls showing that 70 percent of the country disapproves in Bush Co. can't be true. Is that right? So you're agreeing that Fox News is definitely biased to the right? I don't think there's any argument there anyways.

My theory is that it's No. 1 partly because people like watching spectacles and controversy and obnoxious stuff, which is what Fox News Channel specializes in more than any other news signal. They have O'Reilly, Hannity/Colmes, Great Van Strangle Me, Brit Hume .... They're all overly opionated jerks who add to the divisiveness that is gripping the country, thus producing ratings.

The other night, maybe last night, Hannity had a lady on the show who was a religious nutcase that praised the dying of our soldiers and so on. Now, any retard can see this lady and her klan of about 30 are nuts. We don't need to bring her on a show and berate her to look superior and cause controversy. But Fox would, which is why people watch. It's dumbing us down ultimately.

Gravatar I think the pollsters are polling primarily the major metropolitan areas where the Dems are mostly entrenched. Plus they are looking to make a case not necessarily to expose the truth. Are Bush's numbers down? more than likely yes, because of Republican/conservative backlash? again probably yes. But mostly because he is pushing an agenda that differs from the ones he campaigned on. OH NO a politician who lies, how did that happen?

FOX news #1 least of all evils

CBS,ABC,NBC? those are editorial shows that happen to have news in the title

What would happen to public opinion if the news media was politically representative of the populace; roughly 50/50?

Gravatar Actually, I started really watching Fox News on 9/11. They had, hands down the "best" coverage of that nightmare day, that for some reason I couldn't stop myself from watching, no matter how many beers I guzzled.

Now, it's for the same reason that I watch their news. Not Hannity and Colmes, not Bill O'Reilly, these are opinion shows and they don't even try to label them any other way.I watch their news, and our local channel 9.

I'll watch Hannity occasionally and Bill the same. Greta Van Holloway drives me nuts, and I can't watch her at all.

Gravatar I think if Nielsen Media Research was able to split the ratings between Fox News programming and the regular news portions, it would be far from No. 1.

I think people get their news in other places, but tune in to Fox for the specialty talking heads shenanigans.

It'd be interesting to find out.

Gravatar If Fox News is so biased and bad, why then is it the #1 rated news network???

Is that a serious question? You really can't see that Fox is the #1 rated news network BECAUSE it's biased?

Fox has latched on to a sizable, identifiable demographic that keeps tuning in, day after day. Bush could dig up Reagan and piss on his rotting body and the Fox core demographic would find some mythological symbolism in it ... Hannity would proclaim it a metaphor for the pro-life struggle ... and O'Reilly would call anyone who thought it was in bad taste an anti-American scumbag soldier in the War on Post-Mortem Watersports.

It's like saying "if McDonald's food is so bad, why is it so popular?" Good god, man, try harder with your false comparisons.

Oh, and Kos is laughing his ass off about the silly Drudge stats. Go to Daily Kos to get the actual numbers ... don't worry, your computer won't get all communist-faggotty from Kos' genetic marker viruses.

Gravatar "Oh, and Kos is laughing his ass off about the silly Drudge stats. Go to Daily Kos to get the actual numbers ... don't worry, your computer won't get all communist-faggotty from Kos' genetic marker viruses."

Funniest shit I've read all week. Thank you for that.

Gravatar Uh,so which way does Fox lean? I mean, Alan Colmes isn't exactly Mr. Republcian.

And when they are reporting actual news, not opinion pieces, I hardly see anything that is right leaning.

Hard to spin a tsunami into a political cause. Though there is Katrina. Geraldo did a good job there in New Orleans. Yelling and screaming like an ass. Yeah, he was acting all shify and Republican like. Sure.

Gravatar I beleive McDonalds food isso popular because of the ease of aquiring it.

One only has to drive up to a window and they pass you food for money. It certainly can't be the taste.

Gravatar Mickey's is set up so that the food has the same look(industrial),feel(greasy),taste (or lack there of) at your corner store or one in WhoTheWhatTheHellEver-istan.
And for the most part they accomplish that.

Gravatar "Coming next, drug addicted pregnant women no longer have anything to fear from the authorities thanks to the Supreme Court. Both sides on this in a moment."--Bill O'Reilly (O'Reilly Factor, 3/23/01)

Is the statement not true?

And again, O'Reilly and Hannity are both opinion shows. Not "news".

I watch Fox News occasionally, because I like the broad coverage, the scrolling bar at the bottom, and most of the anchors. I think they do a good job. If I decide to watch the Hannity and Colmes show, I do so knowing that Sean Hannity is a righty and Alan Colmes is a lefty.

You've got to hand it to Bill too, he'll let the lefties speak all they want. They do the job for him most of the time.

Other than the obvious people like Bill and Sean, what is not balanced about their day to day coverage? Sorry, I've looked I just don't see it.

I watched it a lot during 9/11 and Katrina, and I failed to see any political sh*t until after it was over, and then, I clearly recall a whole sh*tload of Bush bashing. Hmmmm, that wouldn't be very GOP friendly now would it?

Gravatar OK so Fox is a little biased to the right. Just because the COMMENTATORS and OPINION shows or tilted right does not mean the news portions are. And if they are does that make up for most "news" outlets like CBS with good ole lets try to hang Bush with some crap we made up in the newsroom?

Gravatar Actually WMD's last sentance was straight up.

You've got one news channel with a percieved right sided slant, and how many that are the polar opposite???Hmmmm? CNN,MSNBC,CBS,ABC???

Gravatar You have it all wrong Jenn. They are all rabid, right-wing news outlets. All of them are owned by big corporations and we all know how absolutely Fascist big business is.
They know that CNN, et al. lean left. They just aren't intellectually honest enough to admit it.

Gravatar "WRC, which turned to a liberal talk format in January by adding Al Franken and some of his "Air America" crew, was nowhere to be found. It captured less than 0.1 percent of the audience, too low to be counted."

Courtesy of the Washington Post (2005), regarding the DC area.

Gravatar Now, someone tell me why it is, if these polls taken lately saying that Bush's approval ratings are really in the low 30's are true, then why aren't more people listening to what Daily Bollocks, and Air Idiots have to say????

If Fox News is so biased and bad, why then is it the #1 rated news network???

Ask yourself those questions, and get back to me.

Holy hell Jenn, I have one suggestion:
