I live in San Antonio I am, and have been, a minority here for 10 yrs and I have no intension of leaving. I have no problems with the legal immigrants or the natives of the area whose families have been here for about 300 yrs. They all seem to be able to speak english and spanish.
Yes I agree the govt is the one who has not enforced the laws, and not effectively patrolled the borders. The locals are told that they cannot enforce immigration "laws" because that is the INS/Border Patrol/Homeland Security jurisdiction. We dont need a "NEW" immigratiom policy. We got a new one 20 yrs ago but we see how well that one worked out, dont we. Like most other laws in this country we dont need new ones that make criminals out of otherwise law abiding citizens we need they ones already on the books ENFORCED.

Prositution - legalize it.It hasnt gone away for a couple millenium it isnt going a way very soon.
Abortion - keep it legal. It is a choice that ultimately one single individual takes. If you dont want one dont get one but leave others with a safe choice instead of rust coat hangers.
Drugs - legalize and tax them. There are a hell of alot of people who obviously function in a normal life using them. If it was only the junkies who used the quantities (that the govt says) that come over the border they would all be dead of an overdose. Besides let the govt control the industry that should really screw it up.

The legal immigrants aren't the ones that are responsible for the crime, the drugs, the destruction of neighborhoods,in most cases.

The problem are the ones who sit outside Home Depot pissing on the sidewalk, and littering the ground. The ones who use our hospitals and don't pay, leaving LEGAL citizens with no hospitals and no insurance.
The ones crowding our schools and not paying into them. The ones responsible for over 70% of the crime in this county. The ones who breed like rabbits in the spring and live with 50 people in a 2 bedroom apartment, spawning more uneducated future welfare recipients.

Actually, Pete's attitude is typical of those with their heads buried in the sand. They don't think that the illegals are doing anything wrong, because they don't WANT to see what they are doing wrong.
Statistics are great for making numbers look important. You can take any stat you want to and twist it to support any statement or situation. Having said that, stats on population from the 1990 status (hint: only legal immigrants were counted, Pete) are outdated, simply because of the high rate of illegals pouring across the desert here in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, and California. True, Arkansas was probably growing the Hispanic population that quickly because the LEGAL immigrants were trying to find a place the ILLEGAL immigrants weren't flooding yet and they figured Arkansas would be the last place the ILLEGALS would go.
Pull your head out the sand, Pete. If you continue to not do anything (i.e. contacting your representatives about their "amnesty" programs) you will soon not have a job, a decent neighborhood to live in, or a safe place to walk. Are you married, Pete? Do you have kids? Would you want the (Hispanic) principal of your school to suspend your kid because he/she was defending another LEGAL citizen's child from being harrased by a gang of mini-Latinos? And, at the meeting between you, the principal, and the parents of the wannabe gangbangers, there would need to be an outside interpreter, because none of the parents care to learn to speak the de facto language of the country they are invading. I think her view point come from regionalization. When I lived in So Cal there seemed to be quite a different class of immigrant there as opposed to those in Texas. The immigrants there seemed in my observation to be far less educated, less mannered and far more 'give me, you owe me because I breathe' than those I encountered in Texas.
I lived in San Gabriel, Tujunga, Seal Beach, Long Beach, Covina and Anaheim. With the exception of the Beach cities a white person can get shot for just driving thru let alone living there.

lived near Fenkel (5 Mile Rd) then we moved to a good neighborhood near 6 mile, had 3 bikes stolen in one year, was knifed and was in several fights with what would now be called gang members before I turned 12. I was convinced that literally the only good n.. was a dead n... Eventually I went to college in Louisiana where I met several blacks who were articulate, considerate and just plain regular PEOPLE. I try to give everyone I meet a chance to convince me that they are not what they appear. When you live in an area that just doesnt seem to have PEOPLE instead of animals of any one race it is very hard to beleive they exist.

I was born in Pontiac. Family moved out of the city when I was 13 about 20 miles north out in the sticks about 5 miles northeast of Oxford. Joined the USAF in 1971 and only go back for visits. Woodward Ave, Great street when I was a kid. Looks like a war zone now. Third world countries look better.

My best friend in high school was the daughter born here of two illegal immigrants and that was my first taste of what it felt like to be the odd woman out.
Her parents hated me, and after a long while I asked my friend why. She said jokingly "They no like gringas and gringos." She laughed, I laughed, but as the years went by, I realized, it wasn't just me, no matter how close their daughter and I became, they still didn't like me for the simple fact that I was white. And though they grew to sort of accept me, I listened and heard their blatent racism often. They hated me, and mine, everything that was "white America". I let it go, I accepted, because she was my friend.
Then through similar expieriences, I learned that no matter how nice I was, or if a new family moved in, and I welcomed them with flowers, or a bottle of wine, they'd hate me on site. That's fact. I'd smile, they'd scowl.
I'd coo over their babies, they'd yank the babies away. (Now Pete, I am not a mutant, let it go).
So after 15 years of seeing the destruction, the violence and the hatred they breed as THEY do offspring, I've come to the conclusion that I just don't like them. Most Mexicans that is.
Sure, some are great. Some I'd even say are friends, but they are the minority and all are hardworking, legal residents of this country. And, ask any of them, and they will spew hatred on these lower life forms that slither across the border and demand, demand,demand.
And what seperates those from the dreaded scumsucking bottom feeders, is they are AMERICANS of Mexican descent. Not Mexicans.
So go ahead and call me racist, I wasn't brought up that way, the only ones to blame are the objects of my disgust themselves. They created this person I've become.
