What the NYTimes also left out is that he's in jail in France (they wanted to charge him so we gave him over) awaiting trail for . . . TERRORISM!
I've always thought the perfect torture for the Gitmo guys was to feed them McDonalds - exclusively!
After they gain about a ton we could release them back to their countries and just sit back and listen to them whine about the torture they endured. I can hear it now: "Dear Allah! There were Big Macs and McFlurries EVERYWHERE! French Fries! Dear Allah, if I never see another french fry again, the Prophet be praised!"

Whacko libs and radicals simply use words as clubs to hit their political opponents over the head with.
Terrorist, Hitler, Nazi, Fascist, Liar, Hater, Homophobe, Domestic Spying, Global Warming... the list is endless.
Words mean nothing in themselves to radicals and their useful idiot fellow travelers, they are only worth what political power they can deliver...
I followed the Benchellali story back when he got sent back to France. Leave it to the 5th Columnist NYT to dredge up his stupid trash now. Drip, drip, drip, as they try to stir up outrage like clockwork.
Another total THUD of a news bombshell of theirs...

My comments to Brad on his blog in case he decides not to publish them. (He has moderation turned on.)
Brad, your parallels to Vietnam are so wrong. How we got into Vietnam was in no way the way you described. There are absolutely no parallels as to how we got involved and how the wars were prosecuted. None! You are probably regurgitating someone else who doesn't know the history. Learn some history.
I think I'm old enough to know. I was in the USAF during the last few years of Vietnam.
You say that the domino theory didn't happen. It did and it didn't. Thailand was able to fight it off. Laos and Cambodia fell as did Vietnam. But again, that wasn't the only reason we were in Vietnam. Just like WMDs, there were other reasons as well.
Sentencing an entire people to live under Communism is no victory for the left. How many people have you ever talked to that came from there. I work with a North Vietnamese refugee. He's my age, old enough to know what living under a Communist dictatorship was like. It's too bad you can't talk to him, you might be sickened by what he has to tell you about Communism. you might even learn something.
How's it feel to be proud you would have supported millions of people being enslaved?
If being on the left means I would have to support subjecting an entire people into some kind of dictatorship, count me out.
The majority of the Iraqi want freedom. Some differ as to how to acheive it, but they know what it's like to live under a blood thirsty dictator and they don't want it. The purple fingers spoke loud and clear. But you don't care. The left is always right. Better we leave and they die.
Get up to speed on your history and well talk more.

Well... let's see. Yeah,B*tch, get that one a lot.
One of my "favorites", was this insane "lady" at a liberal blog, who for no reason other than the fact that she assumed I was white (which I am, or rather kinda tan) called me a,ready for this, a "Krackkker Ass Krakkker K*nt."
Seriously. I can't make up stuff like that.
Oh, once I was called a one legged Tijuanna whore. By a guy who was all riled up over the fact that I'd asked him exactly what it was that he and his ilk though would have been a more "appropriate" response to 9/11.

Aurelius/Pete/Brad/etc.
It's not that we don't listen - it is simply that we don't agree with you. We ARE allowed to disagree with you people you know. And it's not as if we didn't give your side a fair shake at running things. We simply hate what your side did to the place.
It used to me a mark of a polite society that people could agree to disagree. Anymore though, liberals become verbally abusive and even physically violent if you disagree with them.

Actually pete, ann coulter hit the nail on the head when she said what liberals consider devisive is just Conservatives speaking up now that we have Fox, talk radio and internet blogs. In the past it was a one party media and no other voices or opinions were heard. Isn't this what free speech is all about? The constitution didn't say "free speech only if you talk nice". Free speech is free speech. People tend to get passionate about what they believe in. You can make every effort to be civil, and we should, but sometimes it's just gonna get a little heated.

Pete, Aurelius and the kiddie Bryan all come here and say the same stuff. All three of these guys have never had to work hard or sacrifice anything in their lives. They come here, tell us how brilliant they are and how stupid we are. Well thanks for letting me know.
None of you three are stupid, but you are arrogant. You boys are no more willing to really discuss anything than anyone else.
I had to laugh at Aurelius' comment about four minutes of his life that he would never get back. The difference between us is that I visited your blog, read your posts and while I don't agree with anything you said, I don't feel like it was a waste of my time. Brad's, on the other hand came close, but even that was an eductaion. Not that he could teach me much because he's not real up on his history.
In any case, keep coming back and having your days ruined. It's obviously important to ya.

"All three of these guys have never had to work hard or sacrifice anything in their lives."
Nice generalization there. Glad to meet you. Glad you know everything about me.
And you talk about how slanted the "liberal media" is.
I've sacrificed a brother and a cousin to this run-amuck war for starters. Both of whom would still be here had Bush Co. taken a minute to actually prepare themselves for what they were getting into.
Armor?
Nah, we don't need no stinking armor.
Besides, thanks to Rummy, we all know that we go to war with the Army we have, not the one we wish we had.

"I've sacrificed a brother and a cousin to this run-amuck war for starters. Both of whom would still be here had Bush Co. blah blah blah..."
I'm sorry for your loss. I'm even more sorry that they were forced to join the military, unwittingly, oblivious to the risks of being in the armed forces.
You mean, they joined voluntarily? They knew there was a possibility they would be sent to a war, whether they liked it or not, agreed with it or not? Oh, OK.
Unlike you, I actually honor their memory and do not trivialize their sacrifice.
"Armor? Nah, we don't need no stinking armor."
Did they die as a direct result of not having armor, or is that a red herring for you to bitch about? Especially since soldiers tend to think MORE armor is the problem instead of the solution:

Oh, by the way, Pete:
IF you lost a brother and cousin in this war, would you characterize them as a couple of "rednecks who lost some lives" in the same manner as you did the Marine who lost appendages and is suing your bunkmate Michael Moore? Or are they only "rednecks" if they're soldiers from someone else's family?
Methinks someone is lying or hypocritical. Which is it?

Armor on the humvees, jackasses. You know, the ones that were broken down half the time and the ones my cousin spent three days trying to weld more metal from a scrapmetal field onto. That was what most of the troops had to do - find metal from a scrap field and try to weld it on. Not bad for the best military in the world, huh?
And, yes, I stand by my redneck remark not because he was an amputee, you asshole. But because he decides years after the fact that he's going to sue for ridiculous amounts of money for something he actually said. It was not edited and his words were not changed. It was an archived NBC interview.
So, yes, frivolous law suits by rednecks - his wife, too - is a good classification.
Methinks you're an insensitive prick.

Pete, I'm extremely sorry for your loss. I have a son-in-law over there. My daughter and he are expecting their first child here in a couple of weeks. It scares me, but I understand how important this whole things is.
This is the best armored and equipped army we've ever fielded. The problem we've found out is that there is a limit to what we can do with armor with the technology we have. As you may have heard, armoring the Humvee's have caused more deaths than the enemy. Some soldiers are refusing to wear some of the armor because it restricts too much of their movement
It is true, if you go to war, you go with the Army you have. That's the way it's always been from the first battle. When we entered WWII, a lot of our soldiers were still packing weapons and equipment unchanged since WWI or before.
Also, no war has ever been prosecuted where major mistakes haven't been a factor. Whether it be the generals or the politicians, mistakes get made. The Civil War is a prime example. We made terrible mistakes at first.
But Pete, we are winning. The insurgents and Al Qaida were dealt a major blow this week. They are in disarray and they know it and we know it. Much of it was compliments of the Iraqi Army. I will admit it's taken a bit longer than I thought they would, but it's happening.
Again Pete, let me tell you how sorry I am for your loss. Those men died for something. Millions of purple fingers know it.

What kind of proof are you looking for? I'm not sure what you mean.
If you mean that we are indeed winning and that it was worth it, I don't know what to tell you other than the news stories that have been coming out this past week.
I suspect it will still be awhile before it is stabilized. One thing's for certain, if we cut and run now, it will never be. And for those who were killed or wounded, it would have been all for naught.
This is not Vietnam. I can think of absolutely no similarities. We have a chance to make this happen.

You call an amputee from a war a "redneck" because he disses your boy Jabba the Hutt...and I'm the insensitive prick? Methinks thou dost project too much.
In essence, you're saying that I was right: soldiers YOU like aren't rednecks, only the disabled ones you DON'T like. Thank you for the distinction.
VW offers condolences, and I would, too...but I no longer believe you. No one hates the troops like you do and could have family serving in them. Actually, that's not true...Cindy Shehag does, too. I stand corrected.
