So because of the actions of this one, admittedly deplorable man, all illegals should immediately get the boot? And please don't twist this to make it sound like I'm for this type of behavior...I am a dog lover (not in THAT way)and I agree that anyone that does this should be equally violated.
I'm just saying that it's unfair to dump an entire group into one pot based on the actions of one...

No........illegals should get the boot because THEY'RE ILLEGAL. Our prisons are filling with illegals, our hospitals are becoming overburdened and closing due to illegals and the amount of money spent on social services that they shouldn't be getting in the first place is staggering.
The poor dog is just another victim of a growing problem.
Itchy, it's for so many reasons.
1) I'm still currently (for my husband) going through the very difficult task of LEGAL immigration. And it pisses me off that ILLEGAL immigrants get more benefits than he does.
2) They are bringing diseases back to this country that have been all but eradicated. Such as whooping cough, tuberculosis, malaria, measles and even leprosy.
3)A vast majority have no desire to become Americans. They just want the dough to send home.
4)Drug cartels and gangs.
5) Lowered standard of living and a huge influx of poor and uneducated people. We don't need the burden.
I could go on for days.

When my husband came here LEGALLY, they gave him all of his shots (because his lame ass Brit doctor kept failing to mail his records.) He went through a health screaning, was tested for every sexual disease known to man.I had to prove, should he become incapaciated,I could care for him.
He had to prove he could work, and not be a burden on society.
Most, if not all of these illegals are, in their own way, a burden on society. From the free healthcare for them, that WE pay for. To what it's doing to our schools.
The people that come here legally are the ones that really contribute to society. They are true immigrants. This guy is a criminal invader, and a sick one to boot.

They are here illegally. No matter how much you may want to not have it so, it is. If we can start demanding that employers get jailed for hiring them, the profit motive will disappear. If they stop hiring, then the illegals will stop crossing the border.
And since I pay taxes, and since I am a citizen, I do not want my tax money spent on services for these people. Let them get their education and health-care and everything else from home. Not from here.

My God Jenn, You draw some very heated debates however it appears you are battling with unarmed college kids. you can't blame these folks jenn, the Left has overtaken the school system and has turned a lot of them into "Socialists' but don't worry as soon as daddy's money is no longer available and the real world smacks them in the mouth, they will come around to reality.

I never actually said that I feel illegal immigrants should have free pass to stay in this country. You just assumed that I feel that way. My stance was about generalizing all of them as dog humpers.
But like all situations, I know that not all of them are here for illegal reasons. Some of them truly do want a better life for their families. Its hard to say what I would do for my family if we were suffering through hardships. Luckily I've never been tested that way.
I have recently learned how difficult it is to become a citizen of this country and I admire and commend all of those that choose to go the legal route. I can't think of any other country that I would go through all that hassle to become a citizen of. I do feel fortunate to have been born and raised in America.
I understand all of the problems that the illegal immigrants cause in this country. But I also realize that there are plenty of people that were also born and raised here along side of me that do the same and worse.
And yes...I am a tax payer, since I am a legal citizen, and no I don't agree with all of the programs that are funded with "my" money. However I realize that it's all spread around into different programs some of which I do agree with. So I'm not going to sit around and boo hoo over a part of my money being used for "illegals."
I don't have any answer for a real solution to this problem. But I know that something needs to be done to address it - one way or the other. But it needs to be "fair." We have TWO borders that are crossed illegally. Not just the one to the South...
,I feel a bit rabid about this - there was just a story on O'Reilly where one of these invaders was arrested 14 tmes in Tennessee - let go EVERY time and has now killed a couple in a drunk driving accident. I'll bet you money they let him go for this too!
These people, once they get here, become super citizens! They get the free health care, the free schooling, the free housing (and living 26 to a household), the food stamps, all the while sending their under the table income back to mexico. If they are arrested, they are generally let go.
If I did any of the crimes these people did I would be on death row!
And to Itchy - I'm not seeing droves of illegal Canadians pouring over the border. Their too busy drinking beer (eh!) and patting each other on the back and telling themselves that their better than us!

They are not here to be "Americans." They are here for money. So they use our country like a motel room and trash every neighborhood they inflict their filthy selves on.
Cheap labor? Also BUNK! Like Miss Jenn said - those were the jobs that teenagers used to do (which I did as a teenager) to learn the value of a dollar and buy their first car. If we have industries that can't exist without this kind of labor, I would prefer for them to fail. Innovation and capitalism will fill in the vacuum they will leave. That's the way we have always done business here.
And I am especially sick and tired of our so-called elected officials ignoring what is now 90% of the population. You watch - they will hem and haw and talk tough until after the elections in November, and then they will give all these dirtbags amnesty. It just makes me sick!

Jonathan: I think what I'm trying to express is that, for me, there isn't a clear cut answer. I need to get more information, I need to think about it more, etc. Yes I understand that they are here illegally and yes I understand that I have expressed that I believe our laws should be upheld even if I don't agree with them. So I guess what I would lean toward is a revamping of the current immigration policy. Perhaps that would help. I don't know.

Fair enough, Itchy. Actually, I think you are on to something when you mentioned revamping immigration laws. You may be short on specifics, but I think it's somewhat easy:
1. Deport those who are here illegally, whenever we find them. Not necessarily go "hunting" for them, but if we pull someone over for speeding and "Whattayaknow!", send them home.
2. Increase the incentive for them to come here illegally by cracking down BIG time on employers who hire them.
3. Revisit the application process. No doubt the process is cumbersome and likely wrought with bureaucracy (some needless, some not so needless). But we need to make it easier for LEGAL immigration. Which brings up...
4. Thorough background checks on people who want to come here. Not knowing who's coming here is suicidal.
5. Build a stinkin' wall/fence!
Itchy, I know of virtually no one who wants to stop ALL immigration. This country is compassionate to LEGAL immigrants who want to better their lives. Those who have no regard for our laws and want to gravytrain off of us do indeed incur our contempt and wrath.
Don't forget:
6. Put an end to providing all but emergency social services to illegal aliens. No food stamps, no welfare benefits, no access to taxpayer-funded government schools ... no taxpayer-funded government services except for life saving medical care.
