I really wanted to go see it until I saw the costume change and read about how touchy feely superman has become and how he can't even bring himself to say "truth, justice and the American way". Another great American icon down the tubes. Victim of the disease of political correctness.
And hollywood wonders what the problem is?

Of course he cant fight FOR the Americam Way. That would mean he would have to fight AGAINST the liberal way, and since Hollywood is making the movie, well, we just cant have that.

One of the screenwriters shares his thoughts on deleting "American". "We were always hesitant to include the term 'American way' because the meaning of that today is somewhat uncertain," Ohio native Dougherty explains. "The ideal hasn't changed. I think when people say 'American way,' they're actually talking about what the 'American way' meant back in the '40s and '50s, which was something more noble and idealistic."
Who the fuck is this ass to think he's speaking for anyone who ever liked Superman? What an ass.
I'd love to see Superman kicking some cultish muslim ass and bring bin Laden to justice. Now that would be a good movie. As a byline in the movie, he could vaporize liberals with his heat vision or go back in time and prevent stalin or hitler or mao from ever rising to prominence. Hmmm, but then who would liberals have to emulate?

I think he really is the prototype liberal, a nice enough guy but always had his hand out and always promissing to pay you back later.

Of course !! Although todays liberals have dropped the "I'll pay you back part". The ever extended hand out is getting quite long these days too.

This "all that stuff" is just another sneering, contempous Hollywood slap at the very notion that AMERICA would even stand for truth or justice.
This is as offensive as the multicultural fools that rewrite great Christian hymns.
It seems they are out to destroy the notion that America stands for anything good.
I won't see the film.

It's great - Dixie Chicks and Superman boycotts by the right.

Amazing how easily liberals dismiss anything that promotes America, even icons such as Superman that kids including myself have grown up with.
It just shows their utter disrespect for anyone and anything unless it conforms to their "thinking".
In a way, Libs are nothing more than parasites, living off the goodwill and graces of the people who keep this country afloat, crying out for more and more money to be spent on them in the way of "universal health care" and more social spending.
The only problem with parasites is they are almost always fatal ..... killing the host as well as themselves in the end.

Pete... I haven't heard about any boycotts... just a few people saying "screw that I'll not waste my money watching a p.c. flick."
Superman was as American as apple pie and football. They've ruined it now, with their nods to the politically correct.
I boycott all of Hollyweird. I have not been inside a movie theatre for over 6 years. And will never again spend the outrageous cost it takes to see a movie in a theatre. S.A.G. or "F.A.G."...Will not get any money from me, to spout their liberal crap. I'm not giving them a dime to promote their anti-americanisms.Be it in a film or standing behind a podium accepting another of the 50 million worthless awards they get. Heck no.
I have cable, that's as bad as I get, and basic cable at that. Nothing worth watching on T.V.these days anyway. Save the history channel and the animal planet channel. (Scrubs/The Office/My name is Earl and Jeopardy are about all I watch, and even then if I miss it, who cares.)
I grew tired of filling liberal pockets with my hard earned money to watch them pretend to be "real" people.

I was excited about a new Superman movie until, like Darwin, I heard about the all the changes. Shoot - I even heard they were going to make him gay. Blasphemy!
THAT didn't happen I guess, but the dissing of America really annoys me. I'll watch Smallville.

It's a good movie, you see the real Lex Luthor and how much he really hates Superman. As good as it is it doesn't even come close to Smallville in how you see why Clark Kent becomes the man he is because he learned values from his parents..

"It seems they are out to destroy the notion that America stands for anything good."
Well, we used to. We called it "The Constitution," and the radical concept that any American had the right to say and do as he (and now, she) damn well pleased unless they were clearly endangering other folks.
But you yammerheads don't get it, talking about "political correctness" when you twits are the most politically correct of all lower lifeforms on "teh Internets."
Yes, I am excercising my right to free speech.
No thinking person, nobody who has actually checked things out and done the basic math could have kept a straight face contemplating the idealistic and entirely laudible "american way" of Superman and the current way that America behaves.
I mean, do you want a fucking LIST?
Ok.
Olly North is not in jail for betraying his country. Which he did. Of course, it would have meant other people would have gone to jail for treason as well. As they should have.
Admaral Poyndexter, instead of having a quiet and unremarkable heart attack, due to the strain of his duties in South and Central america, is a presidential advisor.
Which leads us to Abu Grab-ass.
Man, Superman would sure be applauding that. Maybe adding a little fun with judicious application of heat vision to deserving testicles.
Remember, Superman always obeyed the law, even though he had the might to completely ignore it.
Our current leader, well, he's the complete opposite.
Seems to me the only real conclusion for a real conservative is that it's about time to see about soldering a baynet mount to the ol' Mossberg - but there are about as many Real Conservitives in the blogosphere as there are chunks of real kryptonite in the Smithsonian.

oops. I must correct a factual error in the above post.
I said "solder" when I should have said "weld" or affix. These days, epoxy is your friend.
Indeed, I often suggest weld-bond products to my Conservative friends lacking dental coverage.

I have to agree with you Jen. Thanks for commenting on my take on this. Drives me nuts thinking about the young minds that are influenced by this crap.
BTW, my wife and I just escaped from California (Palmdale in LA County). We now live in the great state of Texas near the Gulf of Mexico. Nice and hot and muggy but the beach is 15 minutes away. When I get too frustrated with this stuff - I head there to forget about it and enjoy what God has given us. Helps me keep perspective on what is really important.

Oooh. Why, with witty ripostes like that, how could I avoid such a stimulating environment of informed debate?
Here's a clue, folks. Whether or not you LIKE an outcome, the means matter. And that is not a liberal perspective - it's bedrock constitutional conservatism, as well as basic sunday school morality.
There's more to being "politically incorrect" than rude jeers and insults . REAL political incorrectness involves shoving inconvenient and unpopular facts up the virtual asses of those who would prefer to ignore them. This USED to be - back when dinosaurs were young and Communism seemed intellectually defensable - the very best way to take on your average radical. You start asking rude questions about the implications of the politics and economics they affirm without any understanding and pretty much allow them to defeat themselves with details.
And nothing has changed, except that the radicals now call themselves "neocons."
But they are the exact same sorts of people, peddling "New Coke" intsead of "Classic Coke."
But the secret component of both is the addictive bullshit that permits self-rightious groupthink and self-delusion.
Far as I'm concerned, before you take any position, Right, Left, Progressive or Conservative, you first have to be correct.
And like elsewhere, you aren't correct about the background or idiology of Superman. Which is silly - whatever you or I think of what Superman actually stands for or stood for.
Like the saying goes, you can have your own opinion, but not your own facts.

Bob - "And like elsewhere, you aren't correct about the background or idiology of Superman. Which is silly - whatever you or I think of what Superman actually stands for or stood for".
No, it's not silly. It's not silly at all to embrace an icon of American heroism that upholds values we hold dear; truth, justice, and the American way.
Just because you're caught in some horrid trap of self denial and have been trained by the gods of political correctness to be ashamed of anything that evens hints at love or pride in one's country, you don't have to insult those who aren't trained like yourself.
Superman is an ideal. Not an ideaology. I will not have you, nor any like you continue to bash the pround ideals that have made this country what it is.
Those ideals are contained in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution. Read them.
