I don't think holding taxpayer-funded public officials responsible for their screw ups and blatant lies can be classified as "siding with the enemy."
If that's what you make of it, then you're maybe not as good an American as you might think. These guys have a responsibility and a duty and Rumsfeld's incompetent mistakes are inexcusable. It's fact.
Maybe you don't have as high of a standard for what you expect out of the government you help fund as the majority of others. That's fine. But don't disguise it by dismissing Rumsfeld's inadequacies as merely not siding with the enemy.

Ward of the State Pete: "I don't think holding taxpayer-funded public officials responsible for their screw ups and blatant lies can be classified as "siding with the enemy."
There's a fine line between responsible journalism and outright treachery, deceitfulness and treason. Today's MSM crosses that line years ago. The moral compass of the MSM is so out of whack that they intentionally side with the enemy and print enemy propaganda in an effort to "bash Bush". They will sacrifice their countrymen by exposing national security programs designed to protect us all under some vague premise of "the publics right to know". National security implies tacitly that we don't have the right to know. What we do have is a right to expect the government to do whatever it can in an ever changing environment of technology to protect us.
Do you not seem to understand that portraying a divided America and legitimizing the enemy by printing the tripe they spew only emblodens them? Printing our national secrets only makes it easier for them? The best friends radical islam has are the ACLU and our nations media. They tell them all they need to know.
I'm tried of your twisted self -absorbed logic. Your mind is simplistic and diseased. Get evaluted and take any drugs they may presribe. Either that or go somewhere and die. Our country's death will eventually be at the hands of morons like you unless we stop you first. Go to fucking hell.

I knew it wouldn't be long before you resorted back to bullying and namecalling. There goes the discussion the adults were having ...
I really don't think there is any credence to the right wing's claims that we're "helping the enemy" by reporting illegal actions of our President. You do know that the NSA program was recently deemed illegal in a court of law, right? You don't think the American people had a right to know that?
I also think your disdain for the MSM has gotten in the way of you using any common sense. So Americans don't deserve the right to read what they choose and not read what they don't choose? Americans don't deserve to hear the rhetoric Iran's leader spews and decide for themselves? Americans only deserve to hear the rhetoric our administration spews and should only be reported by planted right wing journalists? Just like you mistook the story about a challenge to Bush for a TV debate to be anti-Bush, I took it for what it was, just like most rational people would. I think you read the story about Rumsfeld blaming the media for the administration's problems and have your mind made up. Guess what? Just as you see the ridiculous things Iran's leader says, most people can see the ridiculous things our administration says. It's all a game. Figure that out, at least.
I think the right wing talking points have successfully construed reality reporting with reporting lies just to bash Bush. You know, it might help if Republicans had any inkling of a leg left to stand on. Instead, they've failed miserably at every turn and then blame it on the "liberal media" that reports these things. In fact, about the only thing Rebublicans have been successful at is skewing the truth and keeping Americans on their side for this long. Well, the tide has turned and people are finally waking up. Blame the "liberal" media all you want, but it's really just common sense.
Remember how hunky-dory everything was going to be after the "liberal" media shoved continuous coverage of Iraqis walking around with purple thumbs down our throats? Constant quotes from Republicans about how successful our invasion was because they had an election? Remember that? Every step along the way has been like that, and nothing every comes to fruition.
It's past time these con artists are held responsible for their lies and failed policies and the next two years are going to be hell when they've lost all control of both the house and congress.
I know you'll misconstrue all that with me being unpatriotic, which is what you've been taught to say, but the fact is I'm American and I want my country back.

Ward of the State Pete: "but the fact is I'm American and I want my country back."
I bypassed your entire post to get to your point.
We're all Americans. The country you seem to want back has never existed and I hope it never does. Truth be told I'd rather the U.S. be isolationist but in today's world it's just impractical, if not impossible.
With the exception of a few close allies, who at any moment may collapse due to the heavy imposition of the liberal dream government socialism, we're alone in a fight for decency and freedom. Part of the world has either capitulated to the gods of political correctness and have therefore lost their courage and will to survive. The other part is run by socialist dictators, tyrants, madmen and lunatics. There is no "other country" Pete. This is it. You must come to a realization that democracy and freedom is in a fight for it's life and we must win.

Pete says - I really don't think there is any credence to the right wing's claims that we're "helping the enemy" by reporting illegal actions of our President. You do know that the NSA program was recently deemed illegal in a court of law, right? You don't think the American people had a right to know that?
Exposing security measures to our enemies is treason. How are people safer today knowing how our government is trying to protect us? I'd say we are less safe because our enemies now know and are able to readjust their tactics. Also, both the supremes and that hack judge in MI are usuping power that is not granted to them under the constitution. Only the President has the power to conduct war and these idiots are interfering with his ability to wage war. Congress had also granted him these powers so the argument that he's overstepping his boundries is false. It's the courts who have overreached their power and have violated the separation of powers. This is politcal.
Pete says - Remember how hunky-dory everything was going to be after the "liberal" media shoved continuous coverage of Iraqis walking around with purple thumbs down our throats? Constant quotes from Republicans about how successful our invasion was because they had an election? Remember that? Every step along the way has been like that, and nothing every comes to fruition.
Had the MSM and our own demoncrats not given aid and comfort to the enemy in constant treasonous sound bites, the terrorists might actually have given up on their terrorism aganst their own people and perhaps have joined their countrymen in rebuilding their country. Now they know all they have to do is keep up with their terrorism and murder and the media and dems will start screaming to pull our troops out. And so they have. Oddley enough - our military have rebuilt 85% of the infrastruture in that country (i.e. power, water, schools, hospitals, etc) and you never here that sound bite. Even Lieberman lost a primary because he went over there and came back with good news. That didn't sit well with the lefts talking points - so he had to go!
Pete says - It's past time these con artists are held responsible for their lies and failed policies and the next two years are going to be hell when they've lost all control of both the house and congress.
And there it is - your treason. You would prefer to make the next two years hell for a president who only wishes to protect this country. You know, they are ALL con artists, but I would prefer to have the con artists in power who actually want to save the country and not hand it over to the enemy on a silver platter. It's too hot where I live to wear a damned burka!
Pete says - I know you'll misconstrue all that with me being unpatriotic, which is what you've been taught to say, but the fact is I'm American and I want my country back.

You lost me, Witness, when you started blaming the civil war in Iraq on "Demoncrats'" treasonous sound bites. I'm sure they're killing each other over there just to spite Republicans. Come on.
Fair enough on the rest; you're entitled to an opinion.
However, it's always important to read the whole story and not just report the good news nor just the bad news. Here's a story you should read, even though the "liberal" MSM reports both sides. How dare them?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/
wp...6080101453.html
Here are some highlights:
"This story is a very disappointing one. Everywhere you look, goals have not been achieved," said Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), who will hold a hearing on the reconstruction today. "I don't think we can ever get back the billions of dollars that have been lost to poor planning, outright fraud and corruption."
"A project to create more than 140 primary health-care centers resulted in 20 so far. Baghdad residents still have about eight hours of electricity per day, less than they did before the war, even as power supplies improve in other parts of the country. And a crucial oil pipeline that could have brought the fledgling Iraqi government nearly $15 billion in badly needed revenue remains more than two years behind schedule."
"Bowen's office has referred 25 cases of suspected criminal behavior to the Justice Department, and it has 82 more open investigations into alleged fraud, corruption, bribery, kickbacks or gratuities. A handful of reconstruction officials and contractors have already pleaded guilty to charges related to their misuse of reconstruction funds."
Try reading the whole story next time. And this illusion you have of our hardworking troops over there with a hammer and a nail rebuilding Iraq is also false. Remember, we outsourced the work to companies run by friends of Bush Co. that have since screwed the pooch.

Then YOU go over with your oh-so high and mighty organizational skills and talent! I'm sick to DEATH of the negativity all the damned time! It's a freaking WAR! How many years did it take to rebuild Europe and Japan? If I had my way I'd have leveled the god-forsaken crap-hole and after they were COMPLETELY CRUSHED morally and literally - THEN I'd talk about rebuilding.
Had a dem been in the white house NONE of this treason would even be taking place. It's so damned partisan it makes me sick - dems would rather DESTROY the country in order to get their power back (and it is all about the power for them). I really hope they lose yet again and sink into obscurity just like the Know Nothings of ages past. They contribute NOTHING to this country - it's all about them and they have not a single plan or goal that would help this country in this global war. Oh wait - they're all about talking and appeasing and running to the UN. What a freaking joke!
Hell they wouldn't even exist except for their constant carping of the "victims" they have created in this country.

James either you are pretnding to be ignorant - or not. What Miss Jenn's very wise father was saying was that things the gov't does to protect us are not necessarily any of our damned business and have no business being displayed on the pages of the NYT.
Data mining (totally legal) didn't need to be splashed on the front page of the Treason Times. NSA wire tappings - I'm ok with that - particularly because they won't give a darn what I have to say to my mother! Also in this instance, since other countries that these calls go to don't have our nice-nice sensibilities regarding privacy, no one should EXPECT privacy when calling to these places in the first place. The TT also let Osama Bin Laden know he was being tapped on his cell phone - he has since stopped. NICE!
THAT is what Miss Jenn's very wise father was speaking about! And he is RIGHT!

"Why in the world do you people want your country destroyed and your countrymen dead?"
Good question. I don't know. I believe some of it has to do with ignorance and the claptrap taught at our public schools. Our history books have been revised to the point where mention of the United States is usually done in neutral or disparging terms. They teach nothing that would make a young person proud. They dwell now on U.S. "atrocities" and "Great African kings" and "noble Native Americans" and "poor" Mexicans. But nothing about what the U.S. has done in any good way.

Then my frend Darwin, it's now time to yank our children from the public (i.e. government gulags!) and begin to homeschool them again - as was done in the old days! Did you know that the Govenator of CA has actually singed that noxious crap legislation that will now indoctrinate our innocent babes into the world of homosexual sex at the age of 3? This by the way is contrary to the will of the parents of those children - but they don't care. Bow to the will of the supercitizens!

Yes - but my friend Darwin, isn't that what's happening all over the place. Check the Mt Soledad thing. Who wants that thing removed? For 17 years it was ONE guy. So, what? Now its four jews? Probably aclu affilates if you ask me.
Why would you think anything is any different with any part of the left's agenda? All they want is to end our way of life, our traditions, our culture, our freedom of religion, our first amendment rights, etc. and on and on.
They want us to lose the war, they want us to lose our freedoms, they want us to lose our rights to even raise our children according to our own moral codes. They want to control us, but they are snuggling up wth an enemy that not only wants us dead, they want THEM dead too. Ther quest for power really will destroy us all!
Sorry for the rant - but this really bothers me! It seems so simple to me, but I also acknowledge the precedent for this nonsense during WWII. What I don't understand is the lefts insistance that socialism works. It doesn't - never has, never will and they just don't seem to get t!

I have no children - I wasn't blessed in that regard. However, every member of my church home schools their children.
Had I been so blessed I can assure that 1. My children would have been able to go through the same school system I did and by this time they would already have made me a grandmother.
2. Were I faced with this decision now - they would be home schooled (although here in VA we're still allowed to send them to private schools that the state has no control over).

What makes you think I directed that comment to you? You're not the only poster here.
And my beef with CA teaching 3 year olds about sex - is why? Why would anybody do that? It's ridiculous - unless there's a darker agenda behind it and from what I've heard of GLAAD there is. It's absolutely disgusting to me to think of or treat a child as a "sexual being".
Their ultimate goal is the destruction of the tradional family in America. Why? They don't just want other "families" to be equal, they want the traditional family abolished. Again - Why? Why would anyone want that - even phycologist say that is the healthiest environment for a child.
