This Is Not A Democracy, It's A Republic........

Gravatar What a neat honor.
Thanks
Have a blessed week.

Gravatar I'm a huge fan of Vince Flynn and second everything that J of the J just said. The dude can flat out write a story!

Gravatar Flynn being my neighboe (sort of) I have been reading and going to his pub party's for 8 years, also he's a fan of Limbaugh and G-Dub.

He is a very nice man .well spoke and good to his fans. Down to earth Minnesotan

Gravatar sounds interesting, I might grab a copy after I finish Angels & Demons by Dan Brown.

Gravatar I'll have to earmark that one for purchase. 24 rules, Tom Clancy is great and 'American Soldier', by Tommy Franks is awsome.
FTGF!

Gravatar Angles and Demons was pretyy good, this is way more fun. It was a fast, read, and a fun one too.

Gravatar "Nice shameless plug for the book, by the way. Of course they wanted you to read it and review a book based on all of the things you support so your audience of followers will "rush out and buy it." Some honor that is. Gimme a break. I hope you at least got to keep a free copy." -Pete

1) What's shameless about plugging a book you really enjoyed? In fact, I told them I had to read it before I'd review it, or feature it.

2)If you read the book, you'd find that it expounds on the slimy underbelly of all things political. In fact it emphasizes your point that there are crooked politicians in every party.

3)Yeah, it was an honor, as an avid reader, having someone ask me to read a book and review it, is a huge honor. Especially a book that was so good, it will have me rushing to the store to buy the rest of his books.

4)Yeah, I did, I got a free signed hardback copy. That was very nice, and more than I expected.

Gravatar Yours must be a sad little world Pete. What an ungracious and cynical thing to say. I'm sure you meant every word of it.

Gravatar In the context of Jenn's "argument" of calling me a "shitstick" and telling me that my "shitter was full," I don't think it was all that ungracious or cynical.

And, you're right, I often misconstrue the landscape of the blogosphere for journalistic integrity ethical issues that I work in every day. In that environment, shamelessly plugging a book because you got a free signed copy is a no-no. I don't think you'd have given it a bad review had you not liked it. Not that you really "reviewed" it in that sense, anyways. It was more like a free ad, which in the case of a neocon blog atmoshphere, is totally fine.

I was a little jumpy and I do apologize for the pulling that trigger.

Gravatar Another great book if you get around to check it out is.

Dawn Over Baghdad
How the U.S. Military is Using Bullets and Ballots to Remake Iraq (Hardcover)

Gravatar News Flash, small helicopter hit building in New York City, building is on fire.

Gravatar Deja-Vu: Small Plane Hits High-Rise in NYC

(CNSNews.com) - What is believed to be a small plane or helicopter has crashed into at least three apartments in a high-rise in Manhattan's Upper East Side. Fox News reports that people are trapped inside the building, and two people are reported dead. More to come

http://www.cnsnews.com/ThisHour....Rise%20in% 20NYC

Gravatar Yup... I'm on it, see above post.

Gravatar If anybody wants to plug my book for a free, signed copy, I will have that thing in the post for you in an INSTANT.

I have a lot of respect for Pete, but he's totally off the rails about this. Writers flog their GUTS out to write these books and just one person like Jenn who actually READS and LIKES the book makes all that worthwhile.

Gravatar Jenn - great post by the way. I will look out for any book you review.

Gravatar Thanks Roland. There's nothing I love better than reading. That's why I still get the newspaper, there's just something about the written word on paper that I love.

I see we have some things in common. Roland.... are you Arnie?

Gravatar "I have a lot of respect for Pete, but he's totally off the rails about this. Writers flog their GUTS out to write these books and just one person like Jenn who actually READS and LIKES the book makes all that worthwhile.'

WTF? That was the point, man.

Gravatar That was the point? Twice you called it a shameless plug???? Cheese and rice Pete, put down the crack pipe and step slowly away.

Gravatar Okay, let me explain this as simply as possible so you can understand.

Writers love free publicity more than Rosie O'Donnel likes cheeseburgers.

By Jenn picking up an autographed copy and wetting her panties over the "opportunity" to "review" a book she got for free just to plug it to an audience perfect for that book - of course the writer would love it. There's no disputing that. I don't know where you would have thought that I would.

I said it was shameless because you don't accept free autographed gifts and then tell everyone to run out and buy it. Especially not without really reviewing it to begin with.

But then I realized it was a neocon blog and apologized. And now you're trying to rehash it all ...

Damn.

Gravatar Totally off subject here....but have you all heard the latest news on the plane crashing into a NYC building?

My teenager daughter frequents a conservative message board and one of the members there immediately said that she was heading to the democrat board because she knew exactly what they were going to start saying....that this is a terrorist attack and it's Bush's fault.

Sure enough, that's what they're doing. It's like they're salivating at the mouth for any kind of disaster just so they can blame Bush. They don't care about the victims or people getting hurt...they only care about their political agenda.

Thought you might want to blog on that aspect.....

Gravatar I'm sorry Pete, I've never written a book review before. I read the book, gave a brief synopsis of the story line and said I really enjoyed it and why. It sure seemed like a review. I mean, why would I go deeper into the story? That would ruin the surprise.

Let me get this right...if it's free anything I say about it is a shameless plug?

So, all those movie reviewers who are pampered and have free crap thrown at them left and right, and go to a free screening, they aren't entitled/supposed to talk about it? To suggest people go out and see it? So, like Ebert, what he does... he's not really reviewing the movie? And all the other book reviewers etc, when they get a copy of a book to read, do you think they pay for it?

Look Pete, don't read it, please. I wouldn't want you to have fun and enjoy a good book.

And what the hell does this have to do with my blog being a right slanted one?

If any other authors want to send me books on gardening, cooking, geology, fitness, sci-fi or most any type of fiction or non-fiction I'll read it. If I like it, I'll recommend it, if I don't, I won't.

This book is not a "Neo-Con" book. It's just a good book. I liked it. I never slam through books that fast anymore, I don't have time, but I did, I couldn't put it down.

"Wet my panties".... well, a good book does get me excited. You crass, vile little twit.

Gravatar Thanks for the HT Blondie.

Gravatar Good gravy. Don't make me explain once again, please. Please, please, please.

I think you understand the difference between professional journalists and critics and yourself. I also think you understand the ethical issues involved with accepting free gifts for said journalists. I also think you're just trying to egg this argument on further for the sake of it.

There was nothing wrong with what you did. I said that. I apologized for it.

Do you want me to get on my hands and knees and beg for forgiveness? Good, because I wasn't going to.

I swear - you can't even apologize around here without getting slammed.

Gravatar Pantywaste (at least I'm consistent enough to use the same name for you) you are one of the worst pieces of shit I have ever encountered.

Take your crap over to DU or DKos, and stay there.

Worst kind of dumb fuck ever!

(sorry to the rest of our readers, I had to vent)

Gravatar Can you expand on that a little? Or do you just want to call me names and have me run off to another playground or home to mommy?

You're right, you are consistent. Consistently childish.

Gravatar Dude, if that was your definition of an apology, you're momma ought to be ashamed.

Gravatar I guess it was too liberal for you. I'm sorry. Wait, am I apologizing again? Shit.

And I know it has nothing to do with anything, but it really bothers me when it's consistently butchered here, as you just did.

Your = it's yours, you own it. possessive.

You're = you are

Gravatar I don't know what it is but I'm fast loosing my patience with Pete today. I'm getting quite tired of the constant conspiracies, cynicism and negativities. You may think your witty and clever, Pete, but really you are quite dreary and predictable.

In other words, you're just a social bore!

Gravatar Witness, please refer back to above post where I explained your/you're.

That was too funny.

Gravatar Oh, for f*ck sake. Do I have to change the rules. Don't make me do it. I hate having rules. But if this sh*t doesn't stop the new rule may well be:

Next time someone f*cking corrects my damn grammar, I'm going to delete them and ban them.

I was in AP English, advanced lit and 6 different creative writing classes, and that was just high school. You sanctimonious twat. I understand, sometimes I just don't care, I'm just typing on my own blog. And I'm a crappy two fingered typer as it is. Who gives a flying sh*t.

Gravatar wow - with all of that supposed education, you'd think the grammar and creativity in the blog posts would be at least a notch above.

must've been public schoolin', huh?

... crappy two-fingered ... should have a hyphen.

Gravatar You're a social bore = You are a social bore.

I'm very well aquainted with the English language. You apparently only have a passing knowledge.

Gravatar "You may think your witty and clever, Pete, but really you are quite dreary and predictable."

Nice try. Can you find the mistake now?

Gravatar You mean, "acquainted?"

That's pretty funny, too. C'mon. Admit it.

Gravatar PIMF!

Gravatar You Pete, between you and James you just suck the fun out of this place. I'm getting hardily SICK of the grammer/spelling/sentence structure police in this place.

Both of you make plenty of your own mistakes and at least we're polite enough not to point it out to you. We can actually get the "gist" of what you're trying to say without resorting to pointing out mistakes and laughing at them like a 12 year old.

The fact you resort to this simply means you have no argument to what was said. It's the equivalent of responding to a well thought out debate with, "Oh yeah - well you stink!"

Gravatar Wow. I've never seen a book review spiral into something like this!

I'm midway through Act of Treason. Its real good so far. Thanks, J of the J.

Gravatar I often misconstrue the landscape of the blogosphere for journalistic integrity ethical issues that I work in every day. In that environment, shamelessly plugging a book because you got a free signed copy is a no-no.

Pete somehow works with "journalistic integrity ethical issues" every day but has to constantly remind himself that when sitting in front of his computer, reading someone's personal thoughts, on their personally designed Web page, he is reading a blog. On a sidenote, the quote above shows Pete is the last one to be throwing grammar stones. How about just "journalism ethics questions," or "journalistic integrity issues." Using both is a redundancy. Might I suggest Strunk and White?

He must have a big problem with the autograph because in the world of journalism, (Warning: shamless unverifiable plug that gives the illusion I've established some sort of journalistic bonafides coming right now.) which I work in every day, writers receive free stuff to review or sample all the time. Unless the offer to accept the book came with some sort of positive review caveat, there is no ethical issues here.

The fact that Jenn offers total transparency as to the source of the book and the intention to the offer, any remaining hint of an ethical issue is washed away.

Furthermore, since we can assume Jenn was not paid to review the book, as "professional journalists" are every day, there is even less to whine about.

Nevertheless, Pete appears the sort what will always find something to whine about.

I wonder, would holding a hard news story in order to coordinate it with a book release be a problem for his high ethical standards? I seem to recall a little paper im NY doing that not too long ago.

Also, what is it about the libs that requires them to fall back on grammar when they start looking like idiots? I swear it is a condition.

You're = you are

Pete = pretentious manchild who finds it impossible to just say, "Wow Jenn! That's pretty cool. I'm glad you got a free book out of the deal and I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the tip."

BTW...Vince Flynn is shweet.

Minnesota = hockey, Power Line, Vince Flynn, John Sanford (even better than Flynn), Itasca, walleye, and...hockey.

Gravatar Tea, I've missed you so!!!! I see L snookered you into cruising by. You are always so....so....spot on.

"(Warning: shamless unverifiable plug that gives the illusion I've established some sort of journalistic bonafides coming right now.)"

I can say I've verified it. But then, that's meanigless to the Pete types. Pete also supposedly works in journalism, I have recently begun to think he writes for Prison Planet. Or possibly Rense.

Isn't he cute? He's like the 3 legged dog with severe personality disorder, that you just can't help keeping around because you feel sorry for him.

My favorite part is the 10+ times he's sworn to never return, only to pop up again. Like the proverbial bad penny. For someone who loathes me and my blog so much, he sure can't rip himself away from it.

James, he's not so bad. He at least, between spell checks and intentional baiting, can be rational.

So glad you stopped by T.

Dr. B.... It was sweet. Glad YOU ARE enjoying it. Loved your last post.

Gravatar "Pete.....it's me.....Delmar" (oh, did I spell that right?)

hey jenn, thought I would add my 2 cents...hehehe ~

Glad you enjoyed the book... hubby sure does love Vince. I got him a different one for his b-day and he dropped his other book like it was infected or something.

Gravatar I can see him doing that L. He likes a good book as well as the fishing 'eh. Glad you stopped by. Long time no see.

Gravatar Vince Flynn is one of my favorites. Didn't realize he had a new book out.

Guess I'll be at the bookstore after work.

Gravatar Flynn is great. I've got Memorial Day, Separation of Powers and Executive Power... all awesome.

I'll be sure to read his new one, thanks

Gravatar It was apparent that Jenn read and enjoyed the book, so if she wants to plug it on her blog, more power to her.
