Here is the best part...Every household with a tv has to pay £160 per year to the BBC as a "licence fee".
No one give a shit if you never actually WATCH the BBC- the tv cops will be around to lean on you for the cash. I shit you not.
When I was here in the service- I refused to pay just because I could not get my head around the idea that you had to pay for something over the airwaves.
The tv licencing people got smart- now, everytime a tv is sold in this godforsaken country, your name and address are forwarded by the store to the tv cops- they will catch up with you.
When I was growing up, I could be the BBC world service on my short-wave radio and that was the gold standard of news. Now, as the report says, they don't even bother to try to appear unbiased. So it is especially galling that we have to subsidise this too.
The MSM in America is bad, real bad, but not yet up to the level of pure insanity the BBC has shown. Scrap the lot and let capitalism run the show. Give people their money back too.

Jenn - brilliant post. I'm pleased somebody actually dredged up evidence of this. During the Isreali/Lebenon conflict the news coverage from the BBC was quite plainly biased and there is OBVIOUSLY an agenda at work there. Since I pay £160 a year for my TV licence (which is one hell of a lot of money) I expect to see unbiased news coverage. I switch on the news to see WHAT'S ACTUALLY GOING ON. Not just a biased editorial. If I wanted one of those, I'd buy The Guardian.
Even Doctor Who, probably the best thing the BBC ever produced, is getting wound up in agenda. The new spin-off Torchwood seems to specifically feature a same-sex kiss in every episode. I'm all for the realistic portrayl of character's sexualities, whatever they may be, but I don't like to see it rammed down my throat.
Did I remember to tell Darwin to go and fuck himself for his "damn Brits" comment. Buddy, CNN is just as bad.

As Kris mention, "Aunty Beeb" was at one time the gold standard of unbiased news reporting. In the not to distant past, before the proliferation of satellites, Short Wave radio was a huge hobby for many and many stations took pride in their collection of remote QSLs.
I used to listen to the BBC World Service often as a young boy.
It's sad to watch Aunty these days. I spent many an hour listening to her. It's like watching an old friend lapse into dementia and become a mere shadow of themselves. Except in this case, instead of a shadow, they have become their own self parody.

I know you're right - I just like the term "don't feed the trolls."
I disagree with you that they are becoming mainstream. I believe they hold almost total control over the print and tv airwaves, so it may seem as though that's what everybody thinks (plus thats all you hear). I stopped watching tv about 3 months ago (except for project runway - but it's over now).
The moonbats also just about completely control the school and university systems - hence my call for privatization. We, as a nation, need to yank our future - our children - out of the clutches of these indoctrination centers. For the most part, once young people get out into the real world they generally grow up and shake the lib stench off.
I listen to talk radio most of the time and I really love it when the libs call up all slathering and hysterical. It's hilarious - it also lets people know what these people think. Talk radio has become a huge industry because it's one of the few places (besides blogs) people can go to hear "the other side" and people constantly call in saying things like, "Finally! I thought I was the only person that thought the way I do!" (i.e. conservative).
Sorry for going on and on - just thought I would give my 2 cents worth and to give you hope that it's not as dark out there as you may think. Also, remember Miss Jenn, you live in CA and the lib aroma is particularly noxious out there.
Next up, the MSM here in the US admits they are no different.
