Hopefully your story will end better than mine. A few years ago my dog came down from the old man's apartment on our top floor with glue mouse traps stuck to both her front paws like snowshoes. There was nothing unusual about this as she often visited him and he rarely shut his door. He also kept a dirty house so he needed mousetraps.
The next day while out of town I got a call from the cops asking to enter through my window to get to him. The family believed he had passed away. It turned out he had - many days before. There wasn't much left there except a skeleton since it was August. It turned out my dog was sniffing and playing around a moldy corpse the day before.
Hopefully IT IS water that is dripping through :-O
As an aside, Gus has been dead over three years and the VA is still depositing his pension in his account.

Geezus! Nah it's water. Clearly, but this place is so anti-social. When I was a kid I grew up in the NEIGHBORhood. We took care of each other, watched out for each other. This place...cold as all get out.
People drive into their garage and never see each other. (I live in a townhome set up, garage on first floor, then kitchen living etc second floor and bedrooms bath 3rd floor.) I mean some people here are so lazy and anti0social they can't even walk to their mailbox, they drive up to it, jump out get their mail and then drive into their garage.
I met him once when I had garage sale, he seemed nice, VERY fit, he runs marathons. But he travels a lot, one of us SHOULD have a key or a contact number but no one here bothers. I told S, the neighbor who was awake last night that I'd give her my parents number in case of emergency and my cell number.
I know exactly 2, the one from last night and the guy who lives across the court from me out front. That's about it. But since I have a dog I know people around the area pretty well. Sad though how little care people have for their neighborhood.

Well I also believe horror stories on the news would scare paranoid folks such as myself into seclusion.
I helped my neighbor retrieve her lost dog. I didn't know who the owner was but I didn't want the dog to be hit by a car and I knew I would feel sad if my little dog was missing too. I asked people if they knew who the owner of the black dog was. I eventually happened upon the house of the dog owner she was thrilled and she thanked me for returning her precious little black dog. I don't know what breed it was and I was happy the dog wasn't a stray because I was concerned about fleas!

No the dog didn't have fleas but I get a little paranoid about stray dogs because strays usually have parasites!
I'm glad the dog had an owner and the little pup was healthy.
I'm a germaphobe!

eewwww RR that is just a horrible thought.
Where I used to live I had left for work (199 and 15 minutes later my house gwas geting robbed with my dog in it and thankfully my neighbor in bck of me had my home and work# and saw the guys carrying stuff out the back door. She called the neighbor to my right and sh came out and said there was a car she didn't recgonize, then se called my house and asked the answereign machine if we were home.ith that the guys knew they were spotted and left(with many goodies)the he called my job and I think I was home in like 10 minutes in the rain. The dog as unharmed but scared. Thank goodness for her oherwise who knows?
I do have my now neighbor's key and work # because I work from home and she has a dog I can keep an eye on things.
I guess we should all make a pact with ourselves to get to know our neighbor's better.
Rude awakening Jen.

Jenn,
I hope everything works out for you and your neighbor. Hopefully, you'll get to know your neighbor better when he returns home. I happen to have a childhood friend living across the street from me, so we look out for each other. I know a few of the neighbors around me, so that works for me. Also, I'll never tweet myself out to get burglarized by some clowns; I take it you heard about the guy in Phoenix who blabbed out too much and got burglarized. Keep up the great work and vigilance!

New neighbors moved in next door..The wife and I went over to welcome them to the neighborhood...They immediately asked if any other blacks lived around here...We said... Uh,no, but you're welcome here anyway and offered them some fresh dolphin filets. They declined saying it had to be kosher...I'm like wtf..They moved out 9 months later...So sometimes you're better off not socializing with your neighbor...
I'm just sayin...

haha yeah so there ya have it. My mom is ld school too like that. whenever she says something about a black person she has to mention they are black.
I usually make light of it to her ike I would reply and say something like" Well thanks for letting me know they are black otherwise I would have thought they were white"

It's a side effect of liberalism and political correctness. People nowadays tend to shy away from engaging new people. You never know when something you say innocently may "offend" some leftwing lunatic. If you say good morning, nice weather today you may set someone off on a rant about non-existent "climate change".
I wonder how many well meaning folks have been beaten to a pulp for saying "bless you" after someone sneezes.
