Maybe so, but GW Bush and his republican majority passed a law that overseas americans get taxed TWICE. Yep, that's right- twice.
We pay income and other taxes where we work and ive overseas- and to top it off, Uncle Sam (GWB) wants his cut too. We have to kowtow to the IRS and pay tax to them too if you earn over minimum wage.
Many overseas Americans are giving up their US nationality because they can't afford it.
The USA is the only country in the WORLD that pulls this stroke.
Go to a Republicans Abroad meeting and they are all bitching about it too.

I'd like to know the rationale behind it. Sounds very strange, and unfair.
All I know was whene I went to the currency echange shop with the sister in law from London, she got way more bang for her pound than I;d get for my buck.
In fact, our Nan sent 500 p over and she was going to convert it, and we told her to send it in pounds and we'd use it for spending money over there. It will take at least that much to get Kris drunk.

That second tax law is TOTALLY retarded and pisses me the hell off. But my wife doesn't make that much so it doesn't effect us. Yet.
But she lives in England, pays English taxes... If Uncle Same wants a peice of the pie, he's going to have to give her the same benefits as American residents get.
At least when we move to the states I won't need to pay British tax on any American income.
