I heard one of those "speculators" say that if the US even announced we were going to drill the prices would drop. Then he said if we harvested the shale the game would be over. Why? When the US DECREASED its demand due to the high prices guess who snapped up that excess. The Chinese. Until the demand in India and China goes down the price will stay up, unless we drill and supply OUR OWN OIL. There is a reason gas in Venezuela is 50 cents and in Saudi Arabia its 25 cents. Its because they dont pay MARKET PRICE FOR THEIR OWN OIL.

These bastards are practically wetting themselves in giddy excitement because this is breaking the back of everyday Americans to the point they are driving them out of their cars. This is what they’ve always wanted - to tank our lifestyle.
Nevermind the fact that kicking people out of their cars also keeps them from their jobs, or being able to purchase food, clothes, or any other item that’s needed around the household. This in turn hits retailers who then have to lay-off workers and close stores. I saw this all in the 70’s and I had hoped to not see it again. This was the dems then and it is the dems now.

I have a couple of questions for Liberaldoof.
If the oil companies can control the price of fuel as you say they can, then why did they not do so in the 1980 when the price of crude was $19/barrel and many of them were struggling to stay a float?
Why did Exxon and Mobil have to merge to survive the failing oil industry in this country?
Why didn't they just ramp up the prices then if they could control what was happening?
