I would say there's nothing you can do about it, but I'd be wrong. There is indeed something you can do about your miserable lot in life: get some ambition, upgrade your skillset to something more marketable than making French dips on whole wheat, and work the marketplace to get more money (either working for an employer who will pay you what your skills are worth, or by starting your own company and making what your skills are worth). first of all, the industrial revolution was half a century before the new deal. second of all, 1980-2000 were pretty good years by my memory. the roots of this country are not in the new deal. it was "new". the roots are in LIBERTY. We didn't have social security or a federal reserve before the 20th century.
and reagan wasn't anti new deal. he was anti "great society", the programs LBJ started in the 60's that did nothing for the people, mainly minorities, they were trying to help and drained the treasury, increasing the tax burden on ordinary americans.
and if you are anti bush FDR is pretty strange figure to be touting. ww2 was totally avoidable and it is largely the statecraft of FDR, a man who never served of course, that got the whole thing going.
