The POINT that you miss and Ronnie could not fathom is that a pile of cash is not evil per se; it can be used for good or evil depending on who is controlling it. The general rule of thumb, the popular wisdom, is that rich Republicans are fat cats because they contribute out of self-interest while rich Democrats are public-spirited philanthropists because contribute our of the interest of others, and any fair reading of the situation would, broadly speaking, bear this out to be true. There are exceptions, naturally, but on the whole this is generally the case.
I’m not being intentionally obtuse. When I say ‘allowed’ I don’t mean legally sanctioned in any formal sense; I mean that wealthy Democrats are likely to jumped all over by Republicans for being wealthy in a way that wealthy Republicans are not. Al Gore, John Edwards and now Obama – getting it in the neck for being wealthy and committing the moral crime of not voting according to the dictates of their class.
They may be part of the ‘wealthy upper class’ – the important thing is how they use that wealth. Either that or institute some extravagant wealth tax that would redistribute that cash before they could get their hands on it.
The Spitzer analogy does not hold up; Obama never said he was going to ban wealth and prosecute people that are wealthy while being secretly himself. It is near impossible to advance in to being a presidential candidate in American politics unless one is wealthy which is way the conservatives like it, otherwise who knows how man communists and ne’er-do-wells will crawl in under the fence.

Everyone understands that for government to function, taxes must be paid. Why are taxes so high though? Why is everything taxed? Why, should someone who started with nothing, worked hard, became wealthy suddenly be penalized for their hard work by paying more than their fair share?
Why should any hard working American have to work the first 3 or 4 months of the year just to pay income tax? Let's not forget that on-going tax on everything else that you pay year round.
Lest you forget, it's the "rich" that create and provide jobs. People go into business to make money. When you keep taking more and more of the money they make ... they will simply pass it on to the consumer, you and me, and stop creating and providing those jobs. The "rich" never truly suffer high tax rates, it's the middle class that gets fucked.
In addition, exorbitant union demands have driven many businesses into foreign countries. Those countries are more than happy to have American businesses come in and provide their people with jobs.
The only thing that keeps democrats alive today is the dependent class of people they've created, and the scumbags and freeloeaders that scam the government. The democrats offer nothing else, nothing.

The only difference between libs and conservatives is libs believe the state should provide the charity - ergo they LIKE the high taxes - and conservatives believe people should be able to keep the money they worked so hard for. Conservatives, and there was a study just done on this, are FAR more generous with their money than libs. Conservatives give more money to worthy causes and charities.
If it was up to libs, every charity would be closed down because there would be no need for them - nanny-state will provide all your needs.
