I too fear we are headed in that direction for two reasons: 1) We historically bend over (and backwards) for PC issues these days and 2) I suspect some of our actions are based (but would never be expressed) in terms of fear -- fear of violence and retribution.

Why wouldn't we be headed in the same direction. The concessions we make for non-English speaking children in this country are astounding as it is.
In Texas we have an ESL (English as a Second Language) program in our schools. The name itself is rediculous. Our school district had to cut $1.2M from its budget last year. When the board chosen to select which programs to cut settled on the ESL program as one of them, ILLEGAL parents started protesting and the superintendant caved to their pressure and instead cut other Pre-K and Kindergarten programs to keep the ESL.
There is one class in my daughter's grade that has to have TWO teachers because it is so enormous. Guess what it is? Yep, the fraking ESL.
CC here in Nevada they're called ELL students, and I find it amazing that we seem to be the only country that has to make consessions for non native speaking students. Do you think the French and FLL classes or Mexico has SLL classes? Hell, no either you learn their language or you're out of luck.

Yes! I'm sure it's a hate-crime. They also throw school teachers in jail who try and defend their homes against yobs (that would be our thugs, here. Basically rotten kids). Teachers there also have less control over their classes than our teachers do - and you know how it is here!
They insist that if a burglar invades your home that you hide. You are not allowed to confront them - and if you hit them while they are trying to kill you, you will go to jail for using unnecessary force. Why? Because you could have avoided the whole thing by hiding.
Native white citizens have little to no rights in their own country anymore. They have had to tear down ancient buildings; allow ancient churches be converted to mosques; changes the names of pubs, streets and ports - heck even entire towns, to be culturally sensitive, all the while apologizing for their wonderful, heroic past.

If anything - I believe makes a strong case for yanking every child out of public schools and start home-schooling them. In my church there is not a single child in a public school. They are all polite, respectful of adults and authority, and they're SMART!
I think if we made such a decision as a society it would be very beneficial to our whole social structure. Schools could be torn down and made into parks and we might be able to see kids outside playing in safety again.

You know, I have a friend (formerly my boss and the smartest man I've ever met) who once said that the greatest generation failed at one thing - parenting. He should know - he is one of those children (although he turned out ok - he went into the navy and on to Vietnam).
They are ones who raised the kids who became the hippie generation and the begatters of our social experiments and the creaters of PC. They are the ones who started dumbing down school lessons, they are the ones who started talk and trends to break up families so people could go "find" themselves. They are the ones who made it economical to throw fathers out of the household and encourage young woman to make a living by having out of wedlock babies and charging the rest of us for it.
Except for people, like my friend, this is the generation that I think I hate more than any others. Everybody since is simply a victim of these peoples social meddling. They have done more to destroy this country and it's foundations than any terrorist could ever dream of.

My family came here 400 years ago - probably as indentured servants - graduated to land owners - fought the Mother country - and married into the locals along the way.
In other words - my people came here legally.
I don't care about the kids of scofflaws. They should be home forcing their government to make their lives feasible, which means getting a decent wage for the jobs that ARE available there. Mexico, in particular, is a wealthy country. They have agriculture, tourism and lots and lots of oil.

In NYC they are opening one of the first public schools in the nation to focus on Arabic language and culture-the Khalil Gibran International Academy, opening in September 2007.
I think that just the fact learning Arabic is of itself promoting an Islamic outlook, which is in most parts anti-freedom and anti-American. Can you imagine how they would teach the Holocaust? School officials have not answered curriculum questions or provided textbook reviews.
Protests? Hell Yes! It's no wonder the public is protesting.
But theres's MONEY involved - The Bill Gates Institute is providing major funding for the school. Your MS dollars at work. So that shuts up NYC taxpayers-LOL
And yes, there are other "ethnically" centered school in NYC. IMHO, thise schools do not preach about the moral decay of the American people and the "great" virtues of the Middle Eastern countries. Will they even mention the human rights violations there in the history classes? Lots of history about USA civil rights violations, but MiddleEast violations of human rights? Oh, it's just part of the Islamic culture, you say? No really violations of human rights, especailly valid if you are a woman........
And yes, we know that teaching religion is not allowed in public schools. Thank God the watch dogs are all over this one. But IT IS opening...
