My wife works at a local VA (a service chief, actually) and her site routinely ranks as one of the top medical care facilities in the country for vets. The facility is more advanced than most public hospitals.
That said, they have their issues because it is, after all, the government. Whining, clock-watching employees, unions (should be banned), and beaurocratic BS.
What is really wrong is that the VA is NOT -- I repeat NOT -- the DoD. The press is constantly lumping them together and they are not, unfortunately, linked well at all. The DoD is classic military, no-frills, and very slow to change. It is the DoD data system that is so out of date that they can't share vet data with the VA.
If the MSM wants to help the issue, they might compare and contrast (how's that for a liberal arts term) the two organizations. The VA rocks! DoD is a rock.

My issue with this, beside the unsavory practices and obvious set ups for her hubby, is that it seems simply because she's a Dem, she'll get away with it, there is no accountability if you are a Dem.
Had this been the work of a Republican senator, all hell would be breaking loose. Look at the attorney thing, no laws broken there, but it's top news 24/7. Look at the Foley thing, that ultimately cost the Republicans the 2006 elections....sure, he's a pervy old man... but he broke no laws. But was crucified just the same.

Look at the Foley thing, that ultimately cost the Republicans the 2006 elections....
No, your party has been hijacked by smacktards. At the end of the day, that had everything to do with it.
With that sort of think, it leads people to all the exogenous variables that helped to relegate the Republican Party to a minority rather than looking to the rotten core itself.
Jared,
If you truly understood conservatism at all, you'd understand that it is not an ideology but an ANTI-ideology which places faith in traditions, mores and existing institutions and distrustful of abstract notions of liberty and reason.
Come to think of it, modern liberals place faith in their own insitutions (big government, regulation and the welfare state) and distrust abstract notions of liberty and reason. After all, no one sees modern liberals championing the principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Progressives wrote off the principles of the Declaration long ago as dead text since it conflicted with their sympathies towards Marxism, socialism and collectivism (sidenote, does Henry need another "ism"?).
Now that you have reshaped our institutions to your own liking ("now" being loosely defined - this has been going on for decades), and turned the Constitution into a shell of the document that it should be, you will employ state coercion to keep things the way they are. Since you know the conservatives so well, you know that they their philosophy, also an emphasis on collectivism, would justify the use of state coercion to enforce virtue or protect traditions.
Call conservatives all the names you want Jared. Not only does modern liberalism shares similar aspects with conservatism, especially those I find undesirable (statism, a secondary focus on individual liberty, womb-to-tomb regulation and nationalism - although the left's goes the other way), you are completely ignorant. Yet, you grace us all with your insufferable arrogance and a self-fabricated sense of moral superiority that could only have been cultivated by the hobgoblins of your own mind (you certainly couldn't have developed such a sense from any sort of intellectual conquest).

First of all, I'm not disputing that democrats are criminals and get away with plenty, the same for republicans. The whole machine is lubricated with corruption, and I've said that all along.

Pete, why does congress feel the need to investigate a legal action? The president should havve just played Trump and said "Youre fired!" Nothing more would have needed to be said.

You're partly right, though. It would have been a NON story, not because he fired the eight U.S. attorneys (who serve, by the way, at the pleasure of the president), but because he was politically inept and got caught in a lie when asked about his role in the dismissals. It wasn’t a lie under oath (not that that matters much any more in Washington), but a lie nonetheless, that has damaged his personal credibility and that of the Department of Justice.
Throw in the torture and spying thing, both of which Gonzo's green-lighted, and you have a joke of an attorney general.
They have no choice but to get rid of him now. All he had to do was have some balls and say, "yeah, I fired those assholes," and he'd be golden.

Precisely what I was thinking as I waded through the rambling, illiterate, incoherent rantings of, "JARED."
The, "You guys do it too," defense isn't cutting it.
I was watching the video this morning of Rosie O'Dumbell. (See HotAir if you have the stomach for it)
What REALLY struck me, was how she had such a problem with characterizing one side (Iran and the U.S. and Brits) as, "good," and one side as, "evil." Apparently, in her world, Bush is no different than Ahminadinnerjacket.
Even Joy Behar, who hates Bush as much as Rosie, called her on that one. She said something along the lines of, "This guy IS a bad guy. He has openly vowed to destroy Israel." Rosie just blew her off, and continued on her tirade. It's truly amazing how stupid some of these lefty freaks are!

Here's what I wrote to my local paper:
"Hello,
Senator Feinstein recently resigned her position from the Military Construction Appropriations subcommittee.
http://tinyurl.com/2f3vls
In light of the revelations that her husband owned two major defense contractors, who were awarded billions of dollars for military construction projects approved by Senator Feinstein, and also holds large investments in companies that were selling medical equipment and supplies and real estate leases—often without the benefit of competitive bidding—to the Department of Veterans Affairs, it seems something inappropriate was going on.
I'm having a hard time understanding how the resignation of a high profile Senator sitting on one of the Appropriations subcommittees, especially a Senator from our own state of California, is completely ignored. I couldn't care less whether it's a Democrat or a Republican (we all know that personal and professional corruption runs deep on both sides of the aisle), I would just like to see news of this type in my local paper.
I would appreciate it if someone could reply to me with an explanation as to why this story was never mentioned in The Star.
Thank you for your attention to this matter."
