I agree with your post, but not for political reasons. The #!%$#$#$!! currently blighting the White House needs to go ASAP. But he'll get his; our form of government is just fine.
But mostly, America has a vitality and resilience and vibrancy and passion that I've never seen anywhere else, and I've traveled all over Asia and Europe. England is pleasant but too bland. I'm sure you're glad to be back.

Welcome home to the greatest land on the globe! How good to know that you and your husband had a fun, and safe, time!
Not having heard too much from you in a wee while, we were all afraid that you'd been abducted and forced to become the 135th wife of an Imam from Oman...OH MY!!!
Okay, now for the presents!
You remember, right? Good...we'll let you unpack first......take your time, Jenn............no rush because we knew you wouldn't forget........................because what you promised to bring us wasn't going to take up much room, right?

Oh, well. Back to the news of the day, I guess.
For anyone interested, here's a link to the report of the man found yesterday in Toronto, Canada, with the 3 IEDs in his car.
http://www.thestar.com/
Intelligence Officers are still in the early stages of the investigation. The "IEDs" referrence was made by the Toronto Police, so if anyone feels that the Police were being unfair to the "alleged" bomber please feel free to contact said Police at their Headquarters...they'd love to take your call.

Deborah,
I'm not trying to be inflammatory, so don't take this the wrong way.
The question that is just begging to be asked is why you're still living in Canada? It seems from all your posts that you more or less hate it here, so why don't you move to the land you like better? (Sheer curiousity on my part)...

Deb, from NEI....
A third, larger IED delivered in Ontario

"There is serious, deadly intent, and [we] expect that there will be more of these." --Ontario police official, speaking exclusively to the Northeast Intelligence Network and Canada Free Press.
23 August 2007: As we reported on 21 August 2007 (story below), the expectation of additional IED bombs by police sources close the investigation and providing information exclusively to Canada Free Press and the Northeast Intelligence Network has proven correct. This time, a third bomb, this time a much larger and more deadly configuration but with similarities of the previous two envelopes, was delivered to a home in Guelph, Ontario yesterday, making it the third "bomb delivery" in as many weeks. When the parcel was discovered, several homes were evacuated and the package detonated in a controlled event.
The package was sent to the residence of John Becker of Guelph, and was confirmed to "contain an explosive device, combustible material and projectiles that, upon opening, would have detonated and killed the person handling the package." The police official speaking to both the Northeast Intelligence Network and Canada Free Press confirmed that the package was delivered in a Canada Post Xpresspost envelope. Police detonated the package in place, which blew a large hole in his backyard deck and was loaded with shrapnel, most of which became embedded in the deck. COMPLETE ARTICLE

Well Gee, Tanya - Maybe she doesn't want her country turned into a terrorist infested rat-hole.
Just an observation on my part....

Witness, thanks for your input, even if it was unsolicited. I think Canada is quite far from a terrorist infested rat hole, or a rat hole of any kind.
We've got our problems here to be sure, nobody's perfect, but on the whole it's a fantastic country, and I'm very grateful for the opportunities I've had here (I immigrated away from the Serb/Croat war).
Deb, I never said you should leave, I simply asked why you stay when you hate it so much. I don't really give a shit whether you agree with me or not, I know you don't!
If I lived in a country, and constantly bitched and moaned, then I'm sure I'd have people asking me why I bothered to stay. In fact, people did say that to me when I was living in Serbia, and it was like an epiphany, "Why am I NOT getting the hell out of here??!!" I had no good reason, so I left.

Yo - Tanya! People who are used to free speech can bitch about their country if they see it going in a direction they disapprove of. It's no problem - it's called dialogue. It's called venting - it's called FREE SPEECH!
This labeling such with monikers of HATE just pisses me off no end!!!

Whoa there Witness, down girl! If you can compare my country to a "rat infested hole", then I certainly have the right to state a different opinion. That is also free speech - I can disagree with you, and really who cares??
I'm not saying we don't have our problems out here in Canada land, but I also happen to think that it's a great country, and I've had much opportunity here.
And who is labelling who in this case?! "Well, Witness, it appears that the Leftists are beginning to show their true colours......agree with them 100% or get thee gone!" Interesting! I don't recall ever saying "agree with me 100% or get out of my face." I just asked why Deb was staying in a country where she found so many policies distasteful??

Tanya ... with the problems Canada and the US are facing, both are probably the best places left in the west. Neither has capitulated has much as Europe has to muslim demands, although we're definitely on that track.
There should be ZERO acceptance of any demand to incorporate islam into anything in either country.

I definitely agree with you Darwin, anyone who complains about stuff like Christmas concerts, pigs on shelves, drunk taxi passengers, or people eating pork sandwiches should be strongly encouraged to leave the place that is so distasteful to them. Anyone who practices terrorist activities, or commits a crime, or belongs to any terror organization should be given the boot post haste.
Those who practice their religion yet can also respect the host country and the people of the host country, and participate in some of the customs of that country can stay.

Witness, yeah, I think you and I have roughly the same "big picture", and differ in the pockets in between.
I'm an immigrant, and it really makes me angry when I see people who were taken in with the best of intentions who turn out to be involved in terrorist cells/activity, or other destructive things.
It's the whole "muslim = evil = manipulator = demanding" thing that I just can't agree with.
There are a lot of people to whom that equation would apply, but I've lived side by side with many people of great intergrity who practice the Islamic faith, and it would be doing them injustice to say that it applies uniformly.
I've had people make snap judgements about me (not here but back in my native country), based solely on where I come from and the tint of my skin and the colour of my eyes, and honestly, when you're trying hard not to be assiciated with idiots it REALLY sucks!
Anyway *yawn*, I'd better go to bed because my kids are up right when the robins first fart in the morning!
