Govvernment sponsored entities ... Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac bought all those shitty loans, cooked the books, bundled the mortgages as securities and sold them world wide.
When the housing bubble burst the loans weren't worth the paper they were printed on.
All democrat involvement, including the senority on the the government entities.
Government forced this problem because it forced lenders to do things they normally wouldn't have.

For the beginners, let me explain how the stock market works: you basically invest money in some abstract idea. That idea gets your money, and supposedly invests it, to make it even better.
But in most cases, it doesnt. It keeps your money, and the CEOs and other people behind the idea, invest your money in something else, to their own benefit.
And the more people say that this "idea" you invested in is really good, the more money you can make. But if for some reason - for example REALITY - that "idea" isnt so great, your investment loses all value.
Its like a monopoly game - its all make belief. Nothing is real. And if everything goes wrong, and even banks fall apart, there's always the state to bale you out. Thats capitalism for you.

Now thats a LIE. Lenders lent money, because they wanted to. They thought they could make profit out of it. No state, democrat or republican, could force lenders to give out money they didnt want to.
The same happened here, in Portugal. But the bigger problem, this whole "crisis", is just shitty capitalism at work. When people believe that "the market works" and "the market will take care of itself", they're wrong.
That COULD work in some distant planet, without humans, but not here. Here, people always try to make as much as possible, without thinking about the consequences.
And thats where capitalism is wrong. You simply CANT make more money, than what your business is worth. Any speculation about your value, is doomed when you are overrated. Its just a question of time.

I do find that unfair to tax pet healthcare. The dog or cat is also a child's best friend. Darn you Arnie you are gonna force middle class parents to tell their wee ones that they can't keep their furry four legged,scaly or feathered best friend due to your unfair taxes on pet care.
Animal companions or pets are also used as a means of therapy to handicapped people and they also provided assistance to people who lack mobility.
