That is pretty funny! Although their comment on "the government’s shoddy health care system," is mis-spoken since we currently don't have a government health care system.
That's what people like peta and michael moore WANT - a nationalized health care system sure to bankrupt this whole country!
To peta - there's a place for all of God's creatures - right next to the potato's and gravy!

Ooooh, good catch there Wit. I didn't even think of that when I read it. Well we know how much they like to blame the gov. for everything.
I do however have to say, PETA brings up a good point. The "do as I say, not as I do" attitude of lefty nutters like Michael Moore.
His obvious morbid obesity is one of the biggest problems facing the health industry today. Obesity such as MM's brings a myriad of issues such as diabetes, massive joint problems, caner, organ problems etc, etc. If people ate better and took better care of themselves less people would need to see doctors.

I agree, Miss Jenn! I just don't understand how people have such a lack of control of their behaviour that they are essentially eating themselves to death.
I would think the examples of John Candy and the other heavy actors who died young because of their weight would wake people up.
I also believe all people need to do is COOK for themselves! Eat less processed foods (boxed fast foods) and quite going to fast food joints for all your meals.
I'm a huge carnivore! But I also eat balanced meals! I smoke and I drink beer and I haven't been sick in several years - that includes colds and flu. I don't exercise but I DO have to walk the dog several times a day - and BOY does she like to walk!
I'm just saying that if people applied a little common sense to their lives they wouldn't have half the health problems they have and wouldn't go off on half baked schemes to try and get an easy fix for their health/weight problems.

Oh and by the way, Miss Jenn! Your also right about these people wanting to blame the government for everything. Since that's the case, then WHY, OH WHY do they want the government to step in and run every aspect of our lives?????
I think it's pretty clear the governement is inept in running anything!

Witness,
Now what do you mean by that, I love MEAT, I was brought up to learn to hunt when I was a young lad, my father took all of us kids hunting when we were younger and I agree that there is a place for all that great meat right next to the potatoes and gravy, but the trouble of the obese these days is not what they eat it's due to lack of exercise.

Well, Phil - the fact that I said I was a carnivore basically is stating that I'm a huge meat eater. Hunting is cool, but not germain to the discussion.
I agree people have to exercise more - but I also believe that eating processed foods (canned and boxed convenience foods) is a huge problem.
People claim they don't have the time - I say bunk! They don't want to TAKE the time. I used to work a full time job while I was married, yet I was able to come home and cook a balanced meal for myself and my husband. Neither of us packed on the poundage, even though neither of us exercised.
Yet, when I was single and was cooking only for myself, I would make those easy meals and guess what? I gained weight even though I exercised.
I'm telling you! It's the processed foods and it's people eating fast food as a main staple instead of a once in a while treat!

So let me get this straight now we are blaming the government for our obesity? I am sorry but when are we going to put the blame where it belongs? I'm sorry but I eat like a pig and No I don't exercise really. I have a 20month old daughter who I chase around and that probably helps. But on the other hand my wife has issues, not a huge deal, but everytime I hear her complain I say she has to do something about it. Well sorry I love her with all my heart and she knows that but she DOES NOTHING, and until she does she won't lose any weight. So I'm sorry but individuals are capable of controlling their weight and child obesity is the Parents fault.
But can I ask what is up with that picture? I mean can we get any freakier? HAHA

This is fun, so much variety of opinions and everyone is taking a different stance, while I agree with what most of what you say Wit, I get exercise most of the day in one thing or another, it can be anything from house cleaning to most anything, when I am referring to people who don't exercise I mean complete and utter Couch Potatoes who don't do a thing all day.
Gawfer, I can't say as that I agree with anything that PETA has ever stood for and would not support them at all, they are very hypocritical, I have seen articles of where they have killed animals senselessly after taking the stance of saying dumb things like Chickens on your plate are equivalent to the Holocaust.

Phil has a point Wit....one of the things we taught people back when I worked in the fitness industry was that it's all the little things that count.
For example, ever notice the people who circle and circle at the mall to get the closest space are USUALLY over weight? It's true. I park way in the back so not only do I have to walk a little further, but it saved me the agony of parking lot rage. Taking the stairs rather than the elevator, walking to the corner market rather than driving. Etc....all those little things add up. Peopl have become so lazy these days. Can't even go to the store, order everything online while sitting on your fat arse. Obesity is deadly, and bad. And everyone can do something about it.
Now a little padding, nothing worng there, I am not advocating anorexia or size 2. Just being fit. Much better for you.

Also for fun, I walk and jog at least twice per week. I have a week where I put in three times per week but most of the time it works out to be twice per week. So I do get in some exercise besides the normal tasks. The reason that sometimes it turns out to be three times per week is because I like to keep it paced out about every other 3 days.

Easting a lib for breakfast??? YUK! Probably taste like POOP (because they are so full of sh!t!)!!!
I hear what you guys are saying, I just stopped counting that stuff as exercise because a few years ago I had to take a Fitness and Wellness class when I went back to school. Prof said that was simple human activity and NOT exercise! Exercise was above and beyond that and insisted you needed at least 20 minutes (3 times a week) of cardio exercise to be healthy. He also wanted us to do a lot more (walking, running, swimming, weights, arobics, etc - wanted us to mix it up).
I thought the guy was trying to kill me after the first class, but I have to admit that by the end of the semester I had a lot more energy than I had before.
By the way - on my walk with the dog I stopped at the corner market to do my shopping. I should have brought a cart! Heavy bags and a dog while walking up a hill don't mix well...

Tough! I'll walk it off when I take the dog out for her last walk.
Speaking of which, Miss Jenn - Daisy has NEVER been trained. She's a road hog and I basically have to use brute force to lift her out of the way, which is why I had to put a body harness on her. She's like 60 lbs so a side benefit is my arms toned up!

Naw - You must've missed my earlier entry when I said I'd just consumed a considerable amount of cow. Yummy guys have always been called beef-cake. The ones aboveon this comment page fit that catagory - the sorry specimens pictured as the vegans show why real men eat beef!
Gawfer - I remember Fred - bassetts are cool dogs because they're so low-key. As long as I take her for her walks she's happy. Otherwse she's a layabout. Although when we're out she loves to chase them squirrels! Almost pulls my arm out its socket when she takes off. Who'd ever suspect them short legs could move so fast!

I don't think animal rights is a partisan political issue at all. A lot of the top directors at PETA and other animal rights organizations are real conservatives.
PETA's main goal is to point out that our assumption that the suffering that other species should not be taken seriously is a form of blatant prejudice, called "speciesism" by analogy with racism and sexism.
Once we rethink this assumption, it is easy to recognize that the amount of suffering we cause other species for our most trivial benefits is comparable with that which we have caused members of our own species in what we now consider the darkest periods of human history.
Every year, for example, 250 million equally sentient egg-laying hens spend their lives in cages so small that their beaks must be sliced off to prevent them from pecking each other to death under the stress. Investigations find them with broken wings permanently tangled in cage wires, and rotting corpses in cages with live birds.
And so on.
