This Is Not A Democracy, It's A Republic........

Gravatar Yeah, it's all a vast, east-wing conspiracy.

Cheers

Elroy

Gravatar A religion which basically undermines women to the extreme, and now it is the world's #1.

What I want to know is this:

Where are all the feminists? *crickets chirping*

I've never witnessed such stupidity emanating from society such as these recent years.

How can a society with access to so much information be so god damn stupid?

But then again, we have to stop those evil corporations from making too much money!

Kind of makes you wonder ....

Gravatar Well Elroy is all for it - pass the burka's out! Oh! And don't forget we have an honor-killing today at 4:00 with an infidels beheading to follow shortly after! Bring the kiddies!

Gravatar Elroy is beginning to sound a lot like Lester...

Gravatar Islam has been the fastest growing religion for the last 25 years, but they still haven't caught up with buddists, at this point, but not for long. At least that's what they say at BeliefNet.

Gravatar That alone will get me to Mass once a week.

Gravatar Going out on a limb, Kelly?

Gravatar I 100% don't believe in god but my kid goes to Catholic school and I was baptized Catholic. I enjoy Mass actually. Plus us going to Mass regulary will help her get into the Catholic HS that I want her to attend.
The Father at her schools Mass is a great and funny guy - so it's not a hardship for me to attend.

Gravatar I'm not Catholic either, but I like Mass, and candles, etc. And in the olden days a private Catholic school education was the best there was in the U.S. Sadly, that is no longer true.

Gravatar My kid would have been lost in public school, she attended it K-2 and it was terrible. From 3rd until now she has never had more than 18 kids in her classroom. It's a tough bill for me to pay every month but totally worth it. I wouldn't send her back to public school for anything. They are total wacko liberals here that loathe the Military and anything that isn't far far left.

Gravatar Muslims outbreeding Catholics?

Damn. We're in trouble. They were the best we had!

Gravatar Kelly,

Have you considered Home Schooling? there is a cost associated with it in the form of curriculum, but it in no way compares to private school fees, and your daughter would, in a 6 hour day, have more individualized attention than she currently receives in a week a her private school with 17 other students. (With a class size of 20 students, on average, a child in a private school receive 45 minutes of individualized attention a week which is significantly more that a child in a public school that receives 15 minutes a week; 10 of which are corrective comments such as please stop talking, sit down, etc.)

I understand Home schooling isn't for everyone, but Mrs. Gawfer and I have been home schooling for 9 years now, our oldest is in High school and the youngest is in third grade, and all are doing exceeding well, and we control the curriculum. They are involved with drama groups and music groups, and attend field trips each month based on their topical studies. We spent 6 hours at the J Paul Getty Museum in January observing works by Van Gogh, Rembrant, and many more priceless works of art.

Gravatar I HATE ALL GODFUCKS BUT I HAVE TO ADMIT THE FUTURE ISLAMIC AMERICA WILL BE A PRETTY GOOD THING. I'LL ACCEPT ISLAM BECAUSE ITS THE ONLY RELIGION THAT HAS EVOLVED CLOSE TO THE 21ST CENTURY.

Michael Hodges makes a perfect case on how an all Islamic world will be a much better one! I, for one, will gladly don a burka if it means no *spit* Christian Capitalists reich wingers are around to foul my world.

A 100% Islamic world will not be some reich wingers paranoid fantasy. Instead it will be better for:

Public health:

The Muslim act of prayer is designed to keep worshippers fit, their joints supple and, at five times a day, their stomachs trim. The regular washing of the feet and hands required before prayers promotes public hygiene and would reduce the transmission of superbugs in London’s hospitals.

Alcohol is haram, or forbidden, to Muslims. Turning all the city’s pubs into juice bars would have a massive positive effect on public health. Forbid alcohol throughout the country, and you’d avoid all of the alcohol-related deaths and the national bill for alcohol-related crime.

Ecology:

‘The world is green and beautiful,’ said the prophet Muhammad, ‘and Allah has appointed you his guardian over it.’ The Islamic concept of halifa or trusteeship obliges Muslims to look after the natural world and Muhammad was one of the first ever environmentalists, advocating hima – areas where wildlife and forestry are protected. So we could expect more public parks under Islam, but halifa also applies to recycling!

Food:

Application of halal (Arabic for ‘permissable’) dietary laws across America would free us at a stroke from our addiction to junk food, and the general adoption of a south Asian diet rich in fruit juice, rice and vegetables with occasional mutton or chicken would have a drastic effect on obesity, hyperactivity, attention deficit disorders and all associated public health problems. Not eating would be important as well. The annual fasting month of Ramadan instils self-discipline, courtesy and social cohesion. And Americans would heroically benefit philosophically and physically from even a short period when we weren’t constantly ramming food into our mouths.

Arts:

All of the finest art in America and England is already Islamic. Islamic influences have flourished in all areas of the arts, with novelists, comedians (Birmingham-born Shazia Mirza was an instant hit on the London circuit), and music (from rappers Mecca2Medina (LOVE "EM!) on, to the less in-your-face Yusuf Islam)

Race relations:

Under Islam all ethnicities are equal! Once you have submitted to Allah you are a Muslim!!!! It doesn’t matter what colour you are. End of story.

BRING ON THE UNITED STATES OF ISLAM!!!!!!!!!!

Gravatar "Under Islam all ethnicities are equal! Once you have submitted to Allah you are a Muslim!!!! It doesn’t matter what colour you are. End of story."

And if you don't OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!!!!

LOL! What a genius!

Gravatar Let her convert, I could care less! Anyone that stupid deserves what they get. Besides, she'll lose her head in no time! Well - they'll probably take it slow with the honor-killing (after a good old fashioned gang-rape, of course). You know - one rock at a time!

Gravatar I can't believe that KayeInWonderland is serious.
How could any modern woman even think that their lives would be enriched?
Under Islam not all genders are created equal especially women and gays. She must like the fact she will have to be at her man's beckon call lest the may give her a public ass whooping.

Gravatar Islam equals anti-freedom. Islam equals anti-choice. Islam equals world domination by a political ideology under the guise of religion. Not hard to understand why this war is so important to our freedom.

Gravatar Kelly - I went to public school and I did OK, but that was waaat back when they were well funded.

Gravatar Sorry - waaaay back.

Gravatar "but that was waaat back when they were well funded"

Bush has increased the federal education budget by billions. There's more than enough money, and throwing more at it won't help kids learn. Kids can learn in a cave if they want to ... it has nothing to do with "funding".

Gravatar "...Kids can learn in a cave if they want to ... it has nothing to do with "funding".

I fully believe that if parents behave as parents ought to behave toward their children, they will 'want to learn' no matter where they are. ‘Carry's Big Fire Stick’ makes a great point.

It's up to us, not teachers to motivate our children. I also believe that because teachers have been by default made surrogate parents, they sometimes take their rolls too far exceeding their boundaries as teachers. That then, becomes a catalyst for the 'The Government knows best' Liberal mentality.

Gravatar "It's up to us, not teachers to motivate our children. I also believe that because teachers have been by default made surrogate parents" Amen Gawfer - you can't see me applauding you, but I am...

I think that each teacher has the responsibility to be as motivating and interesting as is humanly possible, but when bogged down in dealing with things like basic manners (that should be taught at home) or personal responsibility (sometimes the bad example is reinforced from the parents), it becomes that much more difficult.

Gravatar It's not an either/or.

Gravatar Sure it is, "a". Waaaaay back when, when both you and I went to school, I can guarantee you they didn't spend as much money per student as is spent now - and not one teacher taught us the joy of homosexuality or how to put a condom on a cucumber - especially in the 1st grade!

The most telling statistic I've found is the one stating that students know more about history going INTO university than when they come OUT.

Meaning they actually lose knowledge. Great way to send em out into the world!

Gravatar I think there was a greater value put on public education back when we were in school.

Gravatar Dear A,

I guess I’m a bit old fashioned when it comes to my children. The schools I attended in the 60’s and 70’s were typical to today’s standards: drugs, violent crime, alcoholism and promiscuity were the norm not the exceptions. Hostility toward individuals that were different was en vogue and kids were as brutal then as they are now.

We have several friends from our church, who are public school teachers, and I’d feel comfortable sending my kids to them; but the statistics indicate that 65% of children that attend public schools are marginalized because the curriculum is geared for a general classroom with typical learners. The curriculum perfectly fits a band of about 10-15% of the students and marginally fits another 20% but misses 65% of a typical class. In other words, if a student is struggling, they are left behind, and if a student is excelling, they are slowed down. That was what I was referring to in my previous comment about individualized attention. No public school can offer all students equal attention, and on average, a student receives approximately 15 minutes of that attention per week.

Kids in general want to learn, but frequently become bored or overwhelmed and then school becomes something to ‘just pass’ rather than excel in. that is why parents have an awesome responsibility that frequently gets passed off to teachers who in turn take on too much responsibility for the children. No offence A, but you are wrong if you think the teacher is the ultimate authority in a child’s life or has the ability to continually motivate an entire class for the duration of a school year.

And you can talk about abused children all day long and how bad their lives are outside of school, but the premise of this comment is directed toward the typical student going to a typical school in a typical neighborhood.

Thanks for the applause Tanya. tipping my hat

Gravatar Gawfer - re home schooling. I could not/ would not do it for a couple of reasons: I work fulltime and am divorced - 100% single parent. I am not smart enough - I admit it, sometimes her homework has me stumped. If those two items weren't there - I still could not homeschool as both me and the kid would go insane being around each other that much. I'm not really a kid person and I really don't like kids - other than my own of course. However that makes me sound - it's the truth.

She loves her school, gets tons of individual attention. I don't have one complaint about her school - other than the cost but that's my choice.

As for funding - please. Here is WA state the dems are owned by many unions, the teacher unions being one.

Gravatar Kelly,

I fully understand your situation. That was why I began the second paragraph with the sentence "I understand home schooling isn't for everyone".

But don't be deceived by the premise that you aren't smart enough. I have read your comments both here and on your blog and you are very articulate. You do yourself a disservice by claiming that status.

And don't misunderstand our efforts; Home Schooling is a difficult and arduous task that requires a stay at home parent and an extraordinary amount of tenacity. In other words, it ain't easy... but we're both very glad we made that decision.

Gravatar Back on topic - sorta. More seeting over the pope baptizing a muzzie convert: http://www.calthomas.com/index.p...x.php? news=2225

Gravatar Gawfer - my hat is off to you and the wife - I could never in a million years home school my kid. The amount of patience it requires is tremendous - and I don't have it, not close.
Smarts: I helped her with a project before Spring Break, it was something to do with phylum or something??? Ugh - never heard of it. And math??? Forget it.
Thanks very much for your nice words re me and my journal. And here I thought only Jenn, Rex, VW and my sister read it. Cool, thanks.

Gravatar Kelly,

I happen to read your blog, especially your cracks on short people.

Being 5'5", I am not only amused but also capable of proving VW right, if only on principle.

You tall people need to get your heads out of the clouds. The lack of oxygen inhibits your ability to think clearly. Look at Jungle Jenn, queen of the Amazon women. :P

Gravatar But short people are the last ones to know when it rains.

Gravatar I've quoted you and linked to you here: http://consul-at-arms.blogspot.c...- catholics.html

Gravatar OK, a! That was funny
