Well, on ths one Vanessa is correct. Allah is not the God and Father of Jesus Christ. Allah is an ancient pagan moon god. Moo-ham-head just borrowed an already exsiting local deity and built his phoney cult from there throwing aspects of Judaism and Christianity into the mix so he could appeal to all peoples.
Having a Catholic Bishop actually saying to change the name of God for that of a pagan godling is pathetic!

"God" isn't a name, Jen. The Hebrew god is generally referred to by the tetragrammaton YHWH which was deemed to holy to say and so usually substituted with LORD.
It's kind of funny, really, because the Christian god tells his followers to keep his name holy and yet most Christians have no idea what his name is.

I still contend that the diety is essentially supposed to be the same thing. There are references that correlate in the Bible, the Torah and the Quran.
I do however know there are great distinctions in the Christian and Jewish God.

Sorry, I missopke that earlier. I meant that there are differences in the Christian and Jewish God and the God described in the Quaran. Major ones.
I have spoken at length with a former Muslim that converted to Christianinty and is now a Lutheran Minister. He has studied extensively the correlations and distinctions between Judeo-Christian beliefs and Islamic ones.
I think you guys are misunderstanding me. The God described in the text of the Quran is essentially supposed to be the same as the God of Moses or the father of Christ. Islam however describes a God of vengence and fear.
There are several connections that can be made. Of course there are not direct referrences to Islam in the Torah or the Bible since it was penned much later, but there are inferrences that can be made. Such as when Christ warned of a time to come when his disciples would be percecuted by those who believed they were doing the will of God and the tale of Ishmael whom Muslims claim to be decended from. Genisis 17:20 And as for Ishmael, I have heard you: I will surely bless him; I will make him fruitful and will greatly increase his numbers. He will be the father of twelve rulers, and I will make him into a great nation.
You seem to have taken from my earlier statements that I think there is no diiferences in the faith or in the God's they represent. That is not correct, my intent was to state that there should be no difference since it is supposed to be the same diety, but Islam has obviously corrupted and twisted their image of God to suit thier own needs.
