As I read this article, an epiphany took hold... What is it in Iran that can't be solved by good ol "British Colonization"? or Why dont we send over 1000 McDonald's delegates, and take them over with obesity and diabetes? For Fucks sake, launch the F-18's already.

Boozeman has the right idea, but he didn't go far enough. We should offer the Iranians Wal-Mart, Starbucks, McDonalds, Dominos, Comcast (or Dish), and Circuit City.
They will then be clothed, wired, fat, and so well entertained that they won't care if the Brits are there or not.
If that doesn't work, it might be time to play a few "war games" with live ammo.

As you stated in your previous post Jenn, Blair should indeed give the muslim nutjobs a dealine to release the illegally siezed hostages. How long does it take for their balistic missiles to reach Iran? 45 minutes? That's a suitable deadline.

There is a big big difference between turning the key on China and flipping it on Iran. The Chinese incident was that the plane was in trouble and made an emergency landing at a Chinese airfield. As I recall they were returned fairly quickly the plane was a mess though, I seem to remember they had to bring in a very large transport to bring it back. The chinese mechanics tore it up pretty bad.

"The knee-jerk military rocket response may not be the best solution. Maybe it will. It's probably more of a question of brains rather than balls."
Nope. It's been how many days now? How many days the Brits have allowed the terrorist training, insurgent weapon supplying, lying, psychotic nut job Iranaian government to hold these kidnapped men and woman.
Iran had a choice, they could have immeadiatly turned them back over, with a big sorry note, or they can do what they are doing, parading them about on tv saying,"Look we nabbed some of the infidels!"
They took choice #2. The only response from England and the only one the Iranians will understand is: force. Period. Clearly they failed diplomacy 101.

The UN "could" be a world-changing organization. However, it lacks any real substance because each member nation still retains sovereignty over its military, laws, etc. If the UN had a constitution, legislature, military, etc that everyone had to comply with - that would make it worthwhile.
IMO, if that ever happened, we'd be a lot closer to world peace than we'll ever get with economic or military alliances like NATO, EU, African Alliance, etc.

Enlightened - and you usually are - that was the scariest and most insane thing you have ever said! The only world peace there would be under a UN model would be the peace of the dead! BILLIONS of dead!
Now - As for the Iranians, I agree that the Brits need to give a very short leash (deadline) and when they don't comply (and they won't) destroy their only refinery. Then the Brits (or better yet, us!) can very magnanimously offer to refine their oil for them - then we can sell it back to them for $200 a gallon! And if it takes taking away the Brits beer to make them see the light, then I say, "Bring on the Prohibition!" They are a GREAT people and I'm sick of seeing them asleep at the wheel!

You ignorance is showing - better grab your skirt. We have our own two-prong going on right under our noses.
Not only are they fighting us in their hell-hole countries and spreading their desease all over the world - they are using the west's legal systems is litigation battles in all free countries. All part of their global jihad.
Our own islamic homeland in America - Michigan - has done the following:
Refused to carry passenger in taxi's if they are carrying alcohol or have dogs with them. Including seeing eye dogs for the blind.
Refused to scan pork items at supermarkets, instead insisting that other clerks, management or even customers themselves, scan the items for them.
Flying imams causing an incident on an airline - and then suing because they were racially profile them (Islam is not a "race," but that is the statute they are suing under). To top it off, they are trying to get the names of the passengers on board the plan (some of whome were not American and were muslim themselves and freaked out) who complained so they can name them in the lawsuit. Silencing any dissent is essential to jihad.
And just recently, a muslim woman is suing a judge in federal court because he dismissed her case against a car rental company because she refused to testify without wearing her hijab - a step below a burka that still covers the entire face.
I mean, if WE could sue a judge for decisions we didn't like wouldn't THIS be a different country?
The point is, they are doing this in every western country, including here, to see how far they can push our limits. No matter what, they win. If we capitulate, they win. If we resist, and insist they abide by our laws, they win. Because then they are being discriminated against and they become the VICTIM!
How long before they chip away at enough of our laws, that we, ourselves, become an abomination in their eyes and must be eliminated.
They have always said they plan to destroy the Saturday worshippers first (the Jews) and the Sunday worshippers second (the Christians) and the rest after that.
To you, Lester: When they came for the Jews; I said nothing because I wasn't a Jew. When they came for the Christians; I said nothing because I wasn't a Christian. When they came for me; there wasn't anyone left to speak for me.....

witness - Why is my UN comment insane? Clarify what you mean.
My point is that a true world government would eliminate a lot of inconsistencies (laws, economics, etc) and provide some common belief or value system as a result. I'm not saying we would all think about everything the same way, just smooth out the huge disparities that exist.
A single intergrated military under the command of a UN group (probably elected by member nations) would not become a unilateral death machine.
It could all be a waste of time with too many govt officials in the way of success but that wouldn't be much different than we have now.
Just thinking out loud...

The whole issue of Muslims in the US is a huge challenge to the notion of freedom of religion. One one hand they are entitled to practice their religion as they wish. On the other hand, several aspects of their religion violate laws and social norms.
Culturally, we shouldn't do anything special to accomodate their practices just as we don't for any other religion. The Muslims should try to relax their rigid requirements and move into the 21st century (get rid of the scarfs, etc).
As for the stand-off in Iran, all this BS with the soldiers saying "sorry" is taken straight from the old Soviet propoganda playbook. It's funny and pathetic at the same time. Give it another week or so to go nowhere and they'll be released with some sort of financial or political concession from the Brits.
Once they're out, then we bomb 'em.

The only thing the muslems need to do is stop trying to force everyone to adhere to THEIR religious rules.
If they dont want to see a pic of Mo, fine dont look, but do not force me to not have a pict of Mo. You want to pray to Mecca 5 times a day fine go ahead but dont expect me to disrupt my day for your religion.
