Any publication or network can be biased, but some of the media go to extraordinary lengths to twist, make up and omit facts ... even to the extent it helps our enemies. I don't understand the point of posting casualty rates without reference to the engagements. This is a fucking armed conflict. What do you expect we should see? Why don't you post enemy kill rates as well? You know, the thing the MSM avoids like the plague?

the CNN headline is better. it tells you that while our casualties are going dowm theirs are going up, which implies a certain type of dynamic. Whereas the other one gives you half the story.
I don't know that the toll being the lowest in 8 months is exactly excellent news. it means that 9 motnhs ago there was a month that was lower. If it becomes a pattern that would be great. not bloody likely

I had a much longer explanation drafted on that one so I'm glad the short form hit the point home.
This may sound strange, but the more rights granted, the more possibilities exist for conflicts. Rights are essentially a claim to resources. The more rights, the more claims, the more claims the more conflicts.
As our conflicts are resolved in our court system, it gets flooded with the type of litigious BS we'd all rather do without. Since we don't have a "loser pays" system, this makes the system worse and dysfunctional in many ways.
I don't think we agree on the extent this has gone or the extent it can go, but I think we agree that a system is in place that fosters this sort of conflict, despite what our Constitution says. It's unfortunate.

As far as protecting against discrimination from GOVERNMENT, then the 14th Amendment would have authority in that regard. However, I do not believe the 14th Amendment has jurisdiction over a private individual discriminating against another private individual (i.e. refusing to rent an apartment based on race). That, I believe, falls under the Commerce Clause (although it shouldn't).
I view the Fourteenth Amendment as protecting one's natural rights in the same sense as the Ninth Amendment states in the original Bill of Rights. That hardly means a state should be forced to accommodate me by installing foot baths in public schools.
