We have the same Camera and I have the same problem! I wish I had wait for the 450d, lol.

The body you have isn't your problem, it's the lens and the lighting situations you're in.

If you have money to invest, get lenses first. If you are happy with the body, there's no reason to upgrade.

Lenses will give you the most bang, bodies are kind of nice in terms of features but they can be very expensive.

Look into some EF-S lenses with the L glass, you can even rent them from some places. Consider purchasing "understanding exposure" too, it's an awesome book and only about $25
