I had 2004 hospitalization because doctor's offices would not see me due to a UCD soccer players menigitis death - my symptoms fever, sore throat, neck tenderness.
For the short, I thought I was being treated for suspected menigitis.....from a sound sleep I was awakened with violent thirst, pulsating pain the side effects of 700 blood sugar!!! I called for the nurse, "What have you put into my IV without telling me?" The doctor had ordered solumedrol (potent cortisone) not because of my infection, but, because he had read my MRI to be an "old brain" like an 80 yr. old! Old Brain! (By the way the 80 yr. old lady who had the MRI before me I bet got a glowing report of health!)
I immediately screamed and screamed loudly for alll to hear to get this stuff out of me and continued my protest:
"NO MEDICATION WITHOUT CONSULTATION!"
I TOLD THEM NO VIOLATION OF THIS BODY with medication- Isn't that the American norm for a liberated woman!
A nurse came and said that is was MY RIGHT PROTECTED BY LAW THAT NO SUBSTANCE, PROCEDURE COULD BE FORCED ON ME!
I got my own neurologist, who looked at the records and said go home before anything else happens!
Is this right protected in Texas Law?
Or just California Law?
Or is it Federal Law?
Can't the right not to violate one's body with any substance or procedure at least get her OFF the medication and anesthesia?
Then get FOX or video, news stations, webcasts of ANDREA CLARK. A picture is worth a thousand words.
Had planned to move to Texas - think I stay in the land of fruits and nuts and protected human rights (so far)!
