Talk to the Goat

an excellent idea!

the yellow and purple will make their way to Agape on my request and mum's arm.

pink was fun.

You know, you're really awesome. What a nice thing to do, you just brightened up my afternoon a whole bunch!

Jay -

I do the same thing. It's nice just to "purge" -- makes me feel happy and that the house is cleaner even when it's not. My favorite isn't the closet -- it's the knickknacks. I love them, but I have too many. So, if it doesn't match or I can't or don't want to remember who gave it to me -- out it goes.

They have those prom events all over the country -- great thing to be involved with.

And love the hair!

The Pink makes you look like Pinky (i think it was her name), from Grease!

PS. you know your side bar is really wonky?

Lets home the next dress recipient has as many fond memories...I Liked the red...and you wore them all well!

Closet cleaning is such catharis!

Now those are some kick-ass dresses. Pink is my favourite since the hair looks awexome and matches!

I'm still waiting for another occasion to wear my prom dress. It'll come. It better cuz I am gonna wear that damn thing one more time. Hopefully before I'm too old to pull off pink hair : p

sadly we don't have those sort of occasions over here *sigh* shame, I've got a lilac wedding dress that'd fit the part lovely for some lucky lil lass.

That was very noble of you to give up something that held so many memories. Now it will bring good memories to someone who might not normally get the chance to experience their prom in dignity. I applaud you.

Though I'm curious as to how crotches wear out on pants as well.

After your crotchless pants reference I had a little slip when reading. I read your next sentence as:

"I packed up clothes for chastity."

I love the pictures of you in the stuff you're trashing. Nice angle!

good work, keep it up

Woo woo! You sexy blog vixen, you! Meow. I like the red. The white was ballsy - but you pulled it off well. I could never wear white so confidently these days. And the pink is just too cute, hair and all!!

Anna, thanks for reminding me of another great Red memory:

She and I, and my good friend Jamie, all headed to the bowling alley in our finest. The shoes really did not do our outfits justice, but man did we bowl our butts off!

Not only are you awesome.
Not only are you hot.
But you are the only person in the world that can use the word 'matchingest'. What the hell.

I need to do what you do, now.
Where can I buy that dress, and get me some hair dye?

YOu look lovely in them all. Doing the right thing is always the hardest and most rewarding path though. A toast to you *clink*

The girls who get those dresses will build brand new memories because of your unselfishness. See, you did a good thing, a really good thing. And hell, you were Pink before Pink was Pink!
Lois Lane

wow. worn out crotches. 4 inch heels. coloured hair. plastic leis. and king&queen crowns to boot! was that a closet or a time machine?

i love you, girl. you are beautiful and your heart more so. all the good vibes from your dresses will make some prom kitty really happy.

After reading this, I decided to give all my dresses to charity. Imagine my amazement when I found out that some greedy bastard had already swiped them from my closet.

Forgive me for my active imagination, but even in all my lucidity, I can not imagine how the crotches on you're pants wear out.

I am reminded of a joke about crotchless panties though...

I'm wearing your white dress right now...Thanks Jay!

lady in red. way to go. you got to the back of the closet, which says alot of your tenacity.

I havn't worn many crotches in jeans out. but being a guy I used to always get that hole in my t-shirts down by the hip. later on beth observed that it was from opening beers with my shirt. so we got a real bottle opener and posted it on the fridge for EZ access. problem solved! so maybe it's high time to invent a jeans opener. for nights when mr crown royal has had HIS way with you- you'll be able to utilize this invention to remove jeans without using claws or whatever object is responsible for wearing out the other pairs......

i love the red! but red's always been my fave colour when it comes to clothes so i'm biased. never have the guts to wear white but you pulled it off great! and attitude in pink... wow

Dresses? Its so hard for a guy like me to comment on a subject like that!.......especially since i gave all mine away.....damn i gotta stop writing my thoughts down, screw what my therapist says

We have a giant neighborhood garage sale coming up in a few weeks, your post gives me an idea. I'm going to sell those dog booties and reindeer antlers that some misguided humans tried to get me to wear when I was a puppy. Then, I'll donate the money to a good cause. That way I'll be rid of the &#$%@* things, but I'll feel bad that some human will put them on their dog and the cycle of humiliation will continue. On second thought, it's time to stop the madness - I'm just going to chew them all to shreds now to protect the innocent. I don't care what fallout is from all of this, a dog has to do what he has to do. Am I rambling again? 'Cause you know I hate when I do that . . .

Cal

I love spring cleaning as well - I dont like lots of clutter and get rid of loads - I have a real problem getting rid of clothes though even if they are wrecked - when I find clothes I like I hang on to them until they are ready to be ripped up for dusters lol

you look so damn hot in those gowns, oh my GOD. and i mean that in a purely professional, freindly way....
i love love love to purge and clean out stuff, i always feel lighter and better. then i negate that buy replacing everything i just got rid of.

What a nice thing to do. Me? I COLLECT dresses. I'm a dress junkie. It's an addiction I don't think I could ever give them up. You're far braver than I. (I have been considering giving a few of the more prom-ish ones to a charity, though. I agree, a dress is meant to be worn and loved. Every girl deserves to feel like a pretty pretty princess!)

You are a beautiful woman Jay. And that is an excellent idea for formals! I would have to work up to, being able to part with them....Clothes are kep't, like you, a lot of times for sentimental reasons.

how pretty,

now if Mrs. JQP would follow you lead...

she came home last night with 9 pairs of shoes.

JQP

Well, Jay-
You looked lovely in all 3, and will certainly bring more beauty to future dresses that you adorn. (The dresses were nice, but they were just a good wrapping for beautiful you.)

What a great idea Jay. If I can pry my old stuff out of the hands of my youngest daughter, I might be able to do something noble....

a coupla things. First, a friend of mine once told me that we should look at "things" as experiences. That makes it easier to let go. You will always have those experiences in your mind (and the pic's...love them).
Second...I canceled two weddings (ouch). I didn't know what to do w/the dresses b/c I felt like they had bad karma. So I donated them to a consignment shop that donates all proceeds to a battered woman's shelter. I feel like that infused them with good karma. I'm glad you donated your dresses. Three girls are going to feel like princesses thanks to you.

It is very hard to let go of the clothes/things that remind you of those good times, but it's wonderful that you did. And what a fun post, to boot. So they really did serve you one last time. I have to say that even the billowy taffeta ones with butt bows can have a useful second life. I picked up a particularly over-the-top dress at a thrift store to wear as the "Queen" at my young daughter's princess birthday party, and I think that that touch was one of the most exhilarating for her.

Wow Jay, you look really HOT in all three pics. I especially like the red one you wore to your prom.

Man, I'd better leave this blog right now before you turn me straight!

Jennifer, that's lovely indeed.

JPQ, no worries, I'm not going naked or shoeless (although, believe it or not, I did actually give away a bag full of shoes and boots too!). We have 3 closets and a large dresser that is 4/5s bursting with my stuff, but for the moment, i can honestly say that I wear it all. As for the shoe bins...well, what can I say? I love shoes. Plus, it's sandal season. What woman can help not coming home with 9 or 10 pairs? Seems reasonable to me.

I love your taste. Those dresses will make some girls very happy!

you look gorgeous in those dresses!!!

well....I couldnt do the same, because I never went to a prom or dance ever, oh well!!!
I was just a geek in school, not even a date!

Stunning photos as usual Jay. I'm sad I'll never see them again either, but I'm sure you'll make me feel better by asking me to take you out dress shopping!
See you soon.

I like that the same plant is always accompanying you!
Bye-bye dresses...but at least you still have the pictures. Do you still have the plant?

Great observation, Ro!
My mother certainly does have the plant. At her house, it's literally the picture plant. It grows like a weed, and she cuts it back constantly, but it's always there in the corner, and we always have pictures there, I'm talking about 20 years worth of pictures with that plant!

What beautiful dresses! And how wonderful to pass them on to someone else.

My evening gowns are long gone, but would you come clean out my closets/house/attic anyway? :D I'm not so good at purging stuff...

I'm really jealous of that pink hair... maybe time for new poll on hubbie's sight!?

Somewhere there is a joke or witty comment to be made regarding the plant that appears in two of the photos.

This is not it.

Corsage? Date? Rolling papers?

Sadly, I am sick, cranky, lazy and apparently witless.
