Talk to the Goat

drinks are a perfect way to cope with a long walking tour. In fact you should have had a flask with you teh entire time

It looks like you just need a baby to ride the trains...or a conductor hat/overalls. Perhaps next time you can come in costume and they will let you go for a ride!

Sandals? What happened to the trusty old Doc Martens girl?

WOW!! Sounds like tons of fun for you 2.

I got to tour the Budlight and Budweiser plants in Ohio. They were so cool, AT least I'm sure they were. I don't remember making it home, but my pictures are cool.

sounds like a cool weekend to me! x

Who knew there was so much culture at a TV station?

Sounds like a good weekend.

Hey great post. Thanks for the tour. I agree about celebrities. Most of them really appreciate just being left alone. so that's what I do when I see one.

..and a bit pickled as well, it sounds like, young lady! :D

Lever: a new pair of shoes recently chewed off 8 layers of skin and 2 layers of subcutaneous fat from heels...i'm all about easy breezy open-heeled sandals until the wound at least scabs over.

That sounds like a full and fun-filled day Jay! (Although I probably WOULD have gone for the audograph)

3T

I'm with you on the whole autograph thing. My husband is so embarrassing, he gets autographs of anybody and their dog. Even if he hasn't a clue who they are or care.

Hm...not to self, do not waste time touring television stations. Thanks Jay!

Casey & Finnegan!! OMG! I can hear the piano keys tinkling out the theme to Mr. Dressup. Ahhh the memories!

They should have let you ride the train, dammit.

Sounds like a damn good time. Toronto is a fun place. I'll be visiting this summer too. Royal Canadian Air Farce is some funny shit.

i was downtown on saturday too, at the christie pits. are those the guys from the friendly giant! i didn't know they were still around.

I'd have loved roaming the city for that event!! Now I'm all jealous and pouty and such.

Mary Pat: it's probably only Canadian ones that suck so bad...they can't afford to leave the same sets up, the rooms are cleared and rented out, probably to American film companies who want something on the cheap.

Last time I was in TO, I went to greek town to see the curling club. Little did I know that is was soccer season and Greece had just won. It was crazy! I also hit a beer fest over at Lawrence Market. I still have my glass from that. hoping to get up there next year......

I have no idea who any of those people are. Damn Americans.

Beer? Beer I understand.

I really need to visit Canada stat.

Thanks for the tour. :}

Cheers to u and hubby

Making a list in case I visit:
breweries- check
distilleries- check
TV stations- not so much.
Sweet Jay and Jason for tour guides- check

Sounds like you had a really great time, Jay.

And hey. Slight sunburns just remind you of the day. All good.

Great post.
Sounds like you had a good time walking around.
I'm off to Toronto in 3 weeks for a break from my family and the Big Fat Greek Headache they give me to so I will be walking far and wide of Danforth street.

If you like parks and stuff, check out Brickworks. It's off of Bayview, south of Eglinton.

Jason will know those streets...

It does sound like you guys had quite a bit of fun despite the sore feet and lack of train riding!

We're planning to hit Open Doors Ottawa this weekend (a first for us.) Sarah and I are very excited to see how mail is sorted, and to discover that no one has ever needed to visit the Yemeni Embassy.

I can't believe those fascists didn't let you ride the train! I bet the kiddies get free beers, too!

I did the exact same thing, except I was "camping". And by the exact same thing, I mean I drank myself silly all weekend. It was great.

I can't believe you got m'am-ed. Dude that's never cool. M'am is a 4 letter word in my books. (as is math, apparently).

i have a giant crush on strombo but have decided it was never meant to be. My 9 letter last name and his (ugh i dunno how long0 last name would never hyphenate well. Sigh.

I'm still sad from when I went to go see Mr. Dressup as a kid and Casey and Finnegan weren't there.

mmmmm whiskey, I can smell the hops from here!

Ahhh, the smell of whiskey-infused wood...

doc martins I always wanted a pair those days

That is a very cool thing for a city of that size to do. Imagine the small town equivalent. There's be a hell of a lot of drinking just to overcome the boredom factor.

Well, at least you had some drinks. I think I've been on tours like that where they take you to the same room but thru different doors and tell you that its a different room. Oh, and the drinking tours are the best. If you ever go to EPCOT, go drinking around the world. Personaly I never made it past Sake (Japan)

Vacations RULE!

There's nothing more interesting than an empty TV studio. You can just feel the air conditioning.

Ah, breweries and little trains . . . bringing the world together one inebriated soul at a time.

I thought Casey went off to Somalia?

I've wanted to MARRY Strombo for the last year, but when I did the Doors Open tour last weekend, I actually avoided the CBC ... Same thought as you: OK, if he's actually there, what the hell of any intelligence/significance could we say to each other? Autographs are pretty stupid too.

But I'm very impressed that he was one of the few recognizable "celebrities" that showed up. [Sigh] I think I love him more! LOL

I went to the Canada Permanent Building and the Commerce Court. Both gorgeous.

I love touring breweries. They are so fun. I tried Steamwhistle at Calgary's Beerfest a couple weeks back. It was good, but a little light on flavour. I prefer beer with a touch more body to it.

I also found Steamwhistle in a couple bars around here, which is interesting.

Last year I toured the Granville Island Brewery in Vancouver with my mother. She doesn't drink beer, so I had to drink her samples as well as my own. Darn, eh? I really need to drag her to more brewery tours.

I've also toured the CBC studios in Vancouver. As you say, "This is an empty room they build sets in.. this was a set for this program... blah blah". I also got more of the same at CBC radio (same building, different floor). Really, I should have gone round the GIB tour again.
