Talk to the Goat

I'm envious of your ability to sneak naps. I sometimes find myself in the same tireness boat, but I fill up with tea fifty times before lunch. I'm too busy running to the bathroom to be dozing.

Congrats on the Year of Jay!

What is the point of work if you can't nap at your desk?

I wish I could sneak naps too. I suppose I shall have to make due with sneaking on the internet half of the time I'm supposed to be working.

You maybe the funniest writer alive, my love. I would have loved to have seen you last night in the restaurant I played for St. Pat's. Snoralicious, that was. If I hear "Danny Boy" one more time in 2008 , I'll be justified in taking hard drugs.

But seriously, I'm thinking you have to write a screenplay. Your writing is that graphic. I see lots of pictures in your lines.

don't know how you're doing it, my oldest daughter is younger than you and i've noticed the last year, she's slowing down.
hope you enjoyed your st. paddy's day.

I never thought I'd hear someone complain that the work week is too short. Oh, the shame.......

that's exactly what William Wallace said. exactly

Mmmmm, Rum & Coke is so tasty but I have to call you out for using the phrase "honest to blog". Seriously?!? Someone's using lines from "Juno". Tsk, tsk.

Glad to hear that 2008 is going better for you than 2007 did. Enjoy but be careful please....

"Weekends are so laughably abbreviated that you absolutely must do your best to squeeze every last drop of potential fun out of them"...

Amen.

I totally envy those who can work 60 hours week. I can barely hold onto my 35 hours. But again, my hours are very limited (kids getting off school, and before dinner plus Saturdays).

c'est la vie.

p.s. and of course I'm making half (or even 1/3) the money 60-hour week people are making....

I used to embrace my Saturday/Sunday hangovers. They felt like a warm blanket, proof of a fun night out, and a great excuse to lay around all day and watch TV. But then I found a better way to squeeze more out of my weekend - not getting wasted, waking up relatively early (though never as early as during the week) and making the most of the daytime. A walk, lunch with friends, sitting in the park and reading, whatever. Sure I miss those wilder nights from time to time (and I make sure to schedule one every month or two), but by the time Monday morning comes around, I actually feel like I got some sort of a break. But hey, that's just me.

I love this post! I often find myself doing the same thing each weekend. I just wish I could learn to nap at work.

"breakfasts of champions"

In pre-Redbull time that was real coffee with rum and a selfmade cigarette from black tabacco. Than you are ready to go over the top ...

(And that is exactly where it comes from.)

Are you saying that "rum and coke" is just another term for nothing left to lose?

Weekends? What's that? Oh yeah, that's when i go to work on the second job.

I do have a plan though, I swear it. It will get me somewhere warm, sunny and by the ocean when I can learn to enjoy life.

See i think that's why they call rum and cokes cuba libres when you add lime to them, on account of the freedom. Have a few for me since being knocked up and boozing are apparently incongruous. Apparently that includes tequila too, which I was thinking could be characterized as medicinal. Apparently not.

You are such the make-the-best-of-it woman!! I never looked at an office job this way and boy, oh boy, I really should have!

Friday afternoon hits, I get in my car, and go home, and thank the stars above for the weekend ahead ... but before I know it, I'm hitting that alarm clock on Monday morning ... it's just not fair!

I misbehaved on Saturday night and spent most of Sunday on the couch snoozing. Ha!

It's sad how you never have any fun.

I see a tough looong weekend coming up, too. I'm off today until next Monday and we're going to Holland. It's going to be one party after the other.... Oh my! Can you hear it? My liver is already screaming for help.

Enjoy youth while you can my dear. The day will come when the only thing you want to do after work is sleep and partying will take too much energy to bother.

I can't quite decide if I am jealous or not. It just sounds so exhausting.

I must be old because I just want a full nights sleep. Screw the partying, my idea of a good time is some "time" with my man and a full 8 hours!

I was a good Irish for a couple of hours Monday but got back to welcomed sleep by 11:30.

All those years wasted actually trying to work in a cubicle when I should have been sleeping.

I'm more of a gin and tonic or whisky and coke myself, but I never say no to a vodka orange or Mojito... never tried rum, sounds very much like Hi-Ho and Bottle of Rum... I love Pirates, especially Johnny Depp but even before that, I loved playing pirates as a kid... I'm totally off the topic aren't I? Enjoy the weekend!

My office has a Water Club. If you want to drink the water, you must belong to the club. I started twitching when I heard that. I think I might still be twitching.

Also, laughter is frowned upon.

But a hip flask full of gin and tonic was not specifically forbidden. So I think I'm safe.

Freedom...ah...freedom...gotta find something that tastes like that to me.

Gee thanks, Jay. Now all I can think about is hot cowboys in their tight wrangler jeans

ah, a pick-up kind of girl, glad I drive one!

You are having quite the 2008 so far, aren't you?

Good for you!

Of course you deserve it, but rum and coke? Bleccccchhhhh!!!

Tip: Rehydrate at the watercooler as much as possible between weekends.

Enjoy the Year of Me darling, you sure deserve to!

Instead of a cowboy, may I humbly suggest a cossack...

ah, those were the days.. a long, long, long time ago.
i remember falling asleep over the electric typewriter while still typing ..

and since then i don't do rum and coke anymore either ..

Here's to techno songs you dont quite know, rum & coke and sneaked naps during the evil but necessary work week

Aaaaahhhhhh!! I missed you! How come I don't know anyone who throws Pirate Parties?

Rum and Coke is my lifeblood.

Amen to that Jay. I'm pouring down a rum and coke at this moment. I think it's my 3rd for today, but hey, who?s counting. It's Easter, I'm off for 2 weeks so I can enjoy an amazingly loooong weekend :D Just enjoy life while it lasts and enjoy your "Year of Me". You did deserve it and forget about the Year of Complete Horseshit. It will fade with time!

Rum...A Pirates drink AAARRRGGH!!

I never did care what days I worked, if my job called for working on Sunday I had no problem with that. It was sort of cool to have a day off during the week.

And I've had jobs that took me away a lot and I worked them seven days a week.

I enjoyed working and figured that I would work until I died, but got tired to trying to please others and now that I'm pretty much retired it's nice to not care if it is Monday or Saturday.

Geez, I don't ever get to party like that, but I remember those times clearly. I'm not a total party pooper. I can through a party, I just never get a chance to go out. Live it up!

I need to hang out with you one weekend...

I'm a boring sumbich.

You can only run off to take so many work library naps before the boss notices that the chairs are arranged so that you don't roll off onto the floor and carpet burn your face.

Maybe you could sip rum and coke while dialysing (?) to save time.

Lorrie, you give great advice.

Heart, you sure show the spirit! Love it!

Candace, I promise to invite you next time - it turned out to be an absolute blast!

Orange X - thank you, thank you. I am so happy to be at this stage of my life where everything is exciting and new again. Cheers!
