I recently traded love letters with a certain someone. You wouldn't want those, Jay. Some of them do top 70 pages each and there a couple that top 100.

Sex is easy, love is hard. Love is in how a person views it.
I view love on a scale of one to ten. I love a person I just met at a one for example. I love some of my friends at a 2 or 3. I love you at a 2.
It would take a 5 or 6 for me to consider someone as a mate. The higher numbers are reserved for couples that have been together for years and developed a deeper love and respect for each other.
I love Helen in a paternal way, not a romantic way.
I guess I haven't wrote a love letter for years. Not one that didn't include a lot of references to sex anyway.
But romantic love does include a lot of sex, or lust, and why not?
And it seems that the more modern we get, the more confusing it gets.
Toss in my spiritual journey and it gets even more complicated because I think that we are spiritual beings using human bodies for great physical sex.

LOL, well it's at least masturbating your mind. But mental masturbation is okay, it's how we work things out. Or try too anyway.
But the world is getting so complex. I'm sure that I could only have a good relationship with a basic country gal that hasn't got a lot of needs and likes the beaches and mountains.
But at least I know what is right for me.
I send love letters to my kids. They get all of mine.

I used to do love letters. To boys, and when none of them were reciprocated or responded to? i kind of gave it up.

It would turn into porn and be laced with them such as "Spider-Man Pajamas" and "I can't believe it's not butter".
I think I'm too smart assy to write a love letter, but if you really want me to, I could try.

What the hell is "writing"? It sounds an awful lot like "typing". You mean I should use my fancy "handwriting" font? 
I'm in...but even though I fancy myself a writer, I don't think I can write a decent love letter to save my life.

You know, I'm not sure I have any love letters anymore. You are so right that e-mail is killing the love letter, much like the MP3 is killing the CD.
I don't write love letters. But my husband used to when we were going out 30 years ago. And I'm pretty sure I still have them. If you you really really want copies, I will hunt for them but you have to really really want them.

I have a stack of love letters my husband wrote to me when we were still dating (living cross-country from each other for a few months had some benefits). Reading them now.... I alternate between laughing hysterically, blushing and just getting that lovely warm rush.
I received a love letter from 'Salina yesterday - so of course I blogged it!
I received many love IMs and texts when V and I were long distance, but so true that the old fashioned paper variety are very sparse.
For all of the love poetry I have penned, I have yet to ever send a love letter. The recipients of my affections have always been near by. Granted this doesn't include the ever romantic "Do you like me? Please mark ()yes or ()no." little notes form my prepubescant years.

Why write a long, sappy love letter telling your true love how much you care for them when you can just text "LUV U 4EVAH XOXOXOXO!" *Sigh* How romantic.
It must be a woman thing because I don't know that I've ever received a love letter nor have I yearned for one. Although I have written one -- yes just one. And all me Romeo but she melted. She loved it. I am just that suave.

i've never written a love letter, but i have been known to leave send little notes with lunches, guess that's as close as i'll ever come. i've also never received, it's a lost art for me and my family already. i wouldn't even know how to begin one.

I'm currently reading Love In the Time of Cholera and it mentioned one character had mastered the art of the love letter but when he decided to try and publish them it was no longer fashionable. I didn't realize love went out of style.

Cool idea ... I hope you get stacks. I sort of believe in deep caring rather than "romantic" love, so I'm not sure I'd be any good at love letters as such. I hope you post the best ones for us to read.

I volunteer that you should start writting your own 'the art of modern love letters' with your own words such as 'throbbing' in the second paragraph of the first letter. I'll definetely buy the book.
I read that review and was fascinated by the book. Here's the comment I left there:
I have some old love letters that a girl sent me after camp back in 7th grade. She was a year older -- and more experienced. She decorated the envelopes with colored marker drawings. Not one bit of plain paper remained after she was finished. I wish I could find them and scan them into the computer to show folks how letter writing was before the days of e-mail.
I still treasure a hand-written letter above all other forms of communication.
I found a letter my husband wrote to me just before my daughter was born 3 years ago. Tucked in my purse, I think I read it quite regularly the first few months of her life. It was handwritten on hotel stationary, as he was travelling and away, on our wedding anniversary.
I have a lot of letters from him when we were first dating, but this one probably meant more to me, because after 20 years and two kids together, the love, well, it's still there.

HHmm book sounds good...my last love did inspire murder but I never wrote her a letter...I'd like to send her a bill...would that count??
Oh good grief. I'll probably write the filthiest thing ever, and it'll probably be late. But that's okay. Because it'll be the best. That's me counting myself in, by the way.
