Ever considered PCLINUXOS? Install compiz fusion through SYNAPTIC for desktop effects. Linux is more stable than Vista and has better GUI (search in youtube).
With Linux you can use a virtual machine (innotek Virtual Box) to install a 32-bit edition of Vista since the virtual machine does not take the 64-bit edition. This would make your PC run two different OS at the same time.
