maybe some sort of cotton shell or tank top that you can work on and then take off the needles and wear?

I've been to Israel before, on a Birthright trip. Too bad I didn't knit back then. It's a beautiful country.
It's VERY hot in Israel.... so take light knitting!

I also went to Israel on Birthright. I loved it. I think you should take hand dyed sock yarn and knit it up in stockinette. Also, my boyfriend is half Belarussian! How cool that Vitaliy went there!

I'm so excited for you!! Have a great time! I would suggest taking a simple sweater that's knit in pieces. Each piece is manageable to carry around and at the end of your trip, you'll have a whole garment. Oh, and socks are a must!!

Have a wonderful time in Israel - I was there for the summer 8 years ago, and I loved it. Can't wait to get back. Also, can't wait to see your photos when you get back

I have the same problem--I'll be in Israel for 3 weeks and I am not sure what to take with me besides sock yarn...so I'm making sure I have a lot of it!

Congratulations! You must be so excited about your trip. I'd say socks or a simple (possibly silk) tank should be good projects, don't ask me to name actual patterns though, my brain just doesn't work the way it used to.
