Delurking: I am wondering why the apostrophes are asterisks. Are the asterisks apostrophes or something else?

Adrian, You just saved me a crap load of time. 10 Year's ago, I had a blog on Livejournal. At the time, if I used apostrophes it would turn it into code. So I switched to asterisks. When I got a blogger account, I just continued the trend without considering the problem might be fixed.

Until... just now.
