Hey Drunka! Ain't that a Jabiru.. Another Aussie bird eh?

Gravatar That bird looks like he still has his warning tag attached. Wonder what it says....

"If you can read this, you're about to get pecked."

"Property of Ichabod Crane. If found, drop in nearest mailbox."

"I am a diabetic. Please contact my physician at 1-800-CAKENCOOKIES."

"Mom & Dad went to Alcatraz and all I got was this crummy neck-label."

"This label intentionally left blank."

"All your puddy-tat are belong to us."

Gravatar Oops, forgot to switch back from my secret identity. Time for a Jedi mind trick--

There's no connection between "Security Minister" and "jwpaine". You are only interested in the weird bird of the week. Mailing cash to jwpaine is a great way to start each day.

Gravatar Mr Paine - we already knew it was you, who else?

Drunka - yes, indeedy doo, both you and that bird both have plenty of problems already.

I hope Mrs Drunka isn't going to turn into a monk one of these days. She hasn't started wearing the bed sheets to work, has she?

Gravatar My god you know your birds Kath.

Now stop showing off, you're making the rest of us look ... not quite as intelligent or knowledgeable.

Gravatar Security Mini--I mean, JWP, it was the phony Russian accent that gave you away. Oh, and the reference to the "Moose and Squirrel," a pub that's been closed for years. Cash on its way.

Caz and Kath, we're going to have to get the D-a-W off the Aussie bird kick.

Gravatar Dear JGM,

You've got mail.

Gravatar Is your neck pouch uninflated, or are you just happy to see me?

Gravatar I'm baaaaack! Just in time, too. We need to do some clarifying here.

First of all, for once this is not an Australian bird, although in my subsequent research I have uncovered the source of the confusion. This is indeed a Jabiru, as Kathy suggests, but not the same as what is called a Jabiru in Australia.

This picture was taken near Iquitos, Peru. The Jabiru's (Jabiru mycteria) habitat is in the Americas, from Mexico to Argentina. What is called a Jabiru in Australia is actually an Asian Black-necked Stork (Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus), which doesn't have the impressive double chin of the real Jabiru.

Ain't Wikipedia wonderful?

Gravatar Well, at least it wasn't another family picture, 'cause, you know, as much as we love you guys an' all, the cute couple shots were turning this blog into, well, a family blog.

The Drunka reputation was being debated far and wide. His place as the most demented blogger in the universe was being questioned.

The border-line evil Jabiru has put the debate to rest, for now.
