Water was higher back in the day.

Gravatar Raindrops keep fallin' on my head . . .

Gravatar Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain

Gravatar Purple rain.

Gravatar Those loafers were made for walkin'...

Gravatar Sean Penn in a leaky boat . . . Apologies to Split Enz.

What the hell were we talking about?

Gravatar Err, you know of Split Enz?

Holy moly!

Next you'll be claiming to be an owner of Crowded House CDs.

Oh, yeah, the trouser thing is a bit weird. Maybe they should have just opted for a capri pant.

Gravatar I am indeed the owner of CH cds, tho I like SE better. Pop, hard rock, a touch of punk. I love that shit. Always have. Same reason I like Fountains of Wayne. Finn Bros. aspired to the perfect pop song, and came close a bunch of times. FoW achieved it, several times: check out "Survival Car." Two minutes of pop perfection.

They all, of course, owe a lot to the Beatles.

Gravatar "Survival Car", missing, for some reason, all the punk and hardcore trills. The sound is lousy, too.

Gravatar CH achieved near perfection with Distant Sun. It's hard to imagine anything much better than that.

Gravatar Have never heard of those guys before John, are they "big" over there in the USA?

Yes, CH left behind as near as good as it gets for a consistent body of work, some songs hitting perfection, dozens of others being near enough to perfection not to quibble.

As a one-off, I've always thought "Lawyers, Guns and Money" by Zevon was up there with the very best of songs. (Sorry, just a random after thought.)

Gravatar "Of for fuck's sake."

*Yawn*

"(Gawd, this isn't about to turn into one of those music blogs is it?)"

Gravatar do you share the LaRouche perspective, snapple? His group hates Ehrlich and climate scientists.

Gravatar John, why no blogging on the Bethany matter?

Gravatar Please excuse my "on topic" post. I seemed to remember my father pulling up his suit trouser legs a bit, before sitting down. I asked my source for all things masculine (hubby) and he says most men still do. Otherwise, the trousers will bind and stretch at the knee and eventually lose the crease and look funny. Thus, the apparent "high water" look.

Gravatar HH,

Sorry, been both gone and busy. JWP is there for you.

Laurie: "Apparent" high water look? Most men still do hike their pants up to preserve the crease, but they don't ride anywhere near so high. I think you have a problem with gay people.

Gravatar Caz,

Nah, Fountains of Wayne has had their day, pretty much. Their biggest hit was a piece of crap called "Stacey's Mom," which you can probably figure out the point of. But boy, they could smoke when they weren't pandering.

Gravatar I think you have a problem with gay people.

What huh? I don't get it. Do gay people let their trousers get funny knees? I never knew that.

Gravatar Laurie, would you please let me imply that JFK and WC had a gay relationship without letting stupid logic, history and facts intrude? Thankee.

Gravatar Well, maybe. But it looks to me that WC told JFK to just keep his hands where he could see them.
