Yeah, Ward's been pretty much a drone for decades now. What fascinates me is how uniform and prevalent his type of thinking is--the arrogance, the malignant narcissism, the moral preening, the sneering lies and the threatened (and boasted-of) violence. It's like reading the Case Book of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders:
"Louise Larkin is a pale, stooped woman of 39 years, whose childlike face is surrounded by scraggly blond braids tied with pink ribbons. . ."
or,
"Nick, a 26-year-old, single, grocery store clerk complained: 'I have a problem with shit.'"
You just got to figure out what the diagnosis is.

i'm sorry, kids. i've been out of the country a long time, so you'll have to help me. when did calling someone a skank, or a lesbian for that matter, prove itself a valid response to an argument that had nothing to do (so far as i can see, and i did make sure to check the photos, thanks) with sexual promiscuity or inclination? calling nasty sexual violence on somebody for something they say or do is one (albeit dodgy-as-fuck but yet effective in its way or folks wouldn't keep raspy-mentioning it) thing, but maligning a person's character (or trying to), responding to her words with words that aren't even insulting when we get right down to the bullshit parochial-schoolyard moral judgments and worse that they're founded on... what IS that? so you think she looks like a lesbian (what?!) and she's a skank because you don't agree with her? man, if that's still what it comes down to then we're as bad as what the international media says. speaking as a skanky lesbian american, i've gotta say i'm really not impressed. but then of course my type's probably not who you're speaking to. who is your schoolboy choir, exactly, mr. man? what kind of male adolescent utopia, exactly are you people trying to build?

You're right, lesbian skank is perhaps not a good response to her argument. How about this: How can she call herself a feminist when she actively supports a form of government (socialism as practiced by Cuba, Sandanistan-Nicaragua, etc), that has NEVER been one to support women's rights? The woman is a fraud. How many women generals does Fidel have on his payroll? Why isn't there a woman leading Cuba instead of Fidel's brother? This woman is simply someone who thinks it's okay for members of her political ideology to act with violence and be above the law but not for others. Much like Ward Churchill, this woman is the kind of "activist" who has no qualms about threatening th lives of others or making implied threats of violence, but would immediately run to the police and press charges were anyone to do the same to her. Given her hypocrisy (both in the states she supports vs. those she demonizes and in my presumption regarding her actions if someone turned the tables on her), mocking her is not at all out of the question.

You're right. However, "lesbian," where it was, was merely a descriptor, not a putdown. What I did was make an assumption sans evidence--bad, but not homophobic.
Also, by calling D-O a "skank," I brought myself down to--well, not nearly Try-Works' level, but closer than I want to be. I'll get rid of it.
Oh, I got rid of "evil," too, not because I don't think D-O is, but because it looked funny sitting there all by its lonesome.
Goblin J, mockery is always called for with these people, of course, but I screwed up. I did not, however, call D-O a "lesbian skank."
I must admit that I've done it in the past myself...assumed someone was a lesbian because of mannish looks...and been completely wrong. I am currently a strong advocate of no assumptions. But it's a fairly small mistake, don't you think? Hardly worth the "testosterone-spill" (as Laurie called it at Pirate Ballerina) reaction over at Tryworks. And it's absolutely nothing compared to crap spewed there.
