Gravatar Do you recall what you were getting at the beginning of the month on regular unleaded? I'd suspect it was in the 14-15 mpg range in similar weather conditions.

Judging by the numbers you provided, E85 has been going for about $2.32/gallon up there. That's a heck of a deal, considering down in Milwaukee, it was in the $2.60/gallon range over that time frame (with our very own special blend of Algore/Whitman Memorial E10-laced RFG going for about $2.85 over that time frame).

Gravatar I just ran some edge-of-the-keyboard numbers, and given 11.1 mpg on E85 and 14 mpg for E0, E85 would need to have cost about 21% less than E0. While the incredible deal you seem to have gotten on E85 barely qualifies, what I would have to pay for E85 if I had a flex-fuel vehicle and the desire to burn my food would not even come close.

Gravatar Steveegg,

Don't have any numbers on E0 yet but I drove a couple of tanks of E0 before I started tracking this in detail.

I took Cornholio on a trip up north with E0 and I was able to bounce and then some. However, with E85 I was unable to bounce.

This last tank will be my last E85 and then I will start running E0.

Gravatar My Jeep Cherokee (yes, yes, it's one of those horrible SUVs) usually gets 19 mpg with that terrorist sponsored, oil based gasoline. I've noticed something closer to 17 with alky. If it was really doing any good I could eat that difference. Unfortunately, the "saved" oil money (a fable) is respent (I invented that term) in what I'm now paying for milk and meat. C'mon folks, we have to stop burning up our food!
