In the security world Netscape was problematic. Their main failing was the refusal to meet gubment guidelines of security. Whereas Microsoft has a division that works with gubment on security issues Netscape tried to play the game alone.
Cest la vie Netscape/Firefox.
I'm no Microsoft fan but Netscape was even worse, very cumbersome and unresponsive to .mil or .gov sites.
