Gravatar I'm fond of Stella Artois, and I know several people who enjoy Hoegaarden, although I haven't tried it myself.

Gravatar Hoegaarden is good.

Belgians make beer that's just as good as German beer, and a lot better, in general, than the stuff that most of us consider beer (a golden pilsner with very little flavor).

Gravatar I first had Stella Artois in Belgium in 1976. It has more "body" or taste than most American beers. They didn't sell it in the U.S. until about ten years ago and that was only on the east coast. We started getting it here in Western Wisconsin about two years ago. It makes a good change when you get tired of watery tasting American lagers.

Gravatar I have have had Stella, Leffe, Hoegaarden and Staropramen. They are all pretty good though I like Hoegaarden the best (it's a white belgian like Lakefront White). Staropramen was big in the Czech Republic while I was there, it's a decent beer, nothing too amazing.

Gravatar Stella is already pretty widely available in the States, and is actually on tap in a few locations in Madison. The tap version is the only one I'll drink, since the bottled Stella suffers from the same "green bottle" affliction that makes Heineken, Grolsch, Rolling Rock, et al. skunky and undrinkable. I've seen Hoegaarden at Woodman's but haven't tried it. The other two I've never encountered.
