Nice, real nice. I've heard the 10mm variant is great.

Range report - sorta.
As it turns out, the ONE mag I have is set up for shorter rounds, so I had precious few to pass downrange. Fortunately, thegirl contributed to the cause, and I scrounged a few out of the back of the Element. thegirl's ammo was some 165 +P fire-breathing-dragon stuff, but the gun handled well, albeit with a bit of muzzle flip. With normal power factor ammo, though - it fed flawlessly and was VERY accurate. At 25 yds, it was pretty easy to hit the bullseye. Up close, the trigger was pretty sweet, and easy to pull FAST.
I'll wait for my new mags, then get a holster and mag holders, and work up a load for this, and it should be a nice little ESP gun for IDPA.

For a production gun, it has a really really nice trigger; and shoots very well.
Front sight is so-so, but I think you've got a fix on the way, right?
And seriously, the box it came in has to be the nicest gun box I've ever seen; as far as factory boxes go.
I think it'll be a keeper for sure.

I came very close to buying one for myself last year. That would make a great backup gun for Limited division. The front sight needs to go like Derrick said.

Henning has a fiber optic sight for $60 that I'll get after I buy more mags, a holster, mag pouches...

As for the cartridge length, post-1993, Tanfoglio standardized the Witness on one large frame size, with magazines to match. From EAA's website you can order parts to convert this standard size to .22LR, 9x19mm, .38 Super, 10mm Auto, and .45ACP. Since the frame, and magazine well, are built for the longer 10mm and .45 rounds, you'll probably have room for longer .40s.
Mine's .45.

Nice gun. I have a CZ that sort of looks like yours but 9mm. As much as I like it(CZ) I have to look at the EAA to see if I'm missing out on even more fun. My Beretta turned ok but still just a 9mm.

Nice...I previously owned the standard Witness 40 with the wonder finish. Alas..it was stolen. This looks like a nice replacement. One thing I really liked about my old witness - it just fit my hand like a glove and had great balance.
