With almost 1000 jumps, my worst fear when jumping fixed wing aircraft (my first 200 or so jumps were out of choppers in the army) was not having enough altitude in case of an emergency. I always said if I got over 500 ft AGL, I'd bail and use my reserve. Fortunately, I never had to make that decision.
