Enlighten Me! :) |
"A friend of mine was asked to a costume ball a short time ago. He slapped some egg on his face and went as a liberal economist." - Ronald Reagan |
Yeah, I cried when his funeral was on TV.I don't know if he was the best president ever, but he was up there in my book. |
"Politics is supposed to be the second oldest profession. I have come to realize that it bears a very close resemblance to the first." - Ronald Readan |
He was awesome! I have a list of Reaganisms to live by. The fave "Here's my srategy to the Cold War: We win, they lose." |
I wish we could find another RR. We could sure use one..... |
Great President. My personal Fave. |
Definitely one of the best ever! Right up there with George Washington and Abraham Lincoln! |
Come on fwd, nothing trollish to say? No words of great wisdom for the unwashed? Hello? Anybody home? |
I have nothing against Reagan.... Well aside from a couple of bad choices in neckties. |
Don't get me wrong, I LOVED Reagan, but I'd take Teddy Roosevelt first (of course, after Washington). |
geez, jimmyb, i was gonna put a picture of him on my blog yesterday, too! i wanted to go to washington when they had him 'laying in state' too. but kev & i settled for watching his funeral on tv..& yes, we both cried! (shhh) |
RR was not only a great president, he was a very caring human being. |
Greatest president in my lifetime and I go back to Truman. |
Thanks Jimmyb. Seeing Reagan's smiling face always brightens my day. |
Ronald Reagan was stupid, and so everything he did while in office was stupid. |
Jimmy, |
I suspect Sofocleto would have been comfortable in a Stalinist gulag. |
Someone once said that Reagan would make up his mind about something, sit and listen while everyone else around him argued, then state his case and it was usually the best idea. |
Every time that GWB opens the publics wallet for another spendfest, or promotes someone based on cronyism rather than qualities .... I miss Reagan even more. |
Yes. What a great man he was: |
You're right, Sofa. |
To give credit where it is due: The beautiful lines "slipped the surly bonds of earth..." "to touch the face of God" come from a glorious little poem called "High Flight," written by John Gillespie McGee, Jr., who died serving as a pilot in the Royal Canadian Air Force in WWII. |
...sofo...are you saying you wish jimmy carter would've been president again? |
Two things made Reagan a great president: 1. He surrounded himself with cabinet members who knew what they were doing and mostly listened to them and then delivered his scripted material with the aplomb of an actor and 2. His wife pushed all his buttons. |
Sorry, but as much as I love Reagan, Teddy Roosevelt will always have my vote first. |
I was born during the second Reagan administration, and I consider myself proud to be what I call a "Reagan baby!" |
Preach it, Brother Steve! |
I knew it wasn't Reagan's words, that's why I put it in separate quotes, but it was still very moving for such a solomn occasion. |
"Ronald Reagan was stupid, and so everything he did while in office was stupid." |
Regarding Sofa's comment: "Stupid is as stupid does, so who really is the "stupid" one here? |
Well Gayle, while the verdict is still out on this one, I would feel confident in saying that the gold medal in the "stupid" event would have to go to the contestant that quotes Forrest Gump. |
