Jim, I am a veteran, and am against the war. That being said, now that we are in it, let's win it or go home. W and his cronies are more about "stay the course" even though what we are doing is not working. We need a lot more troops over there if we are going to have a decisive win. So, do we keep letting this thing turn into another Viet Nam, or do we go in there and kick ass and take names? I told all of my reactionary friends in 2000 "if W wins, we are going back to Iraq". They said "yeah, right". Well, here we are, 2 1/2 years later, and we can't stop the terrorists from blowing up whatever they want whenever they want to do it. That's not victory, it's young men being cut down in the prime of life for nothing. Easy to be pro war from the safety of your GM plant. I will never support this war. It is driving this country into the ground. We build schools and hospitals over there while our own people do without. If we are not going to take off the gloves and do this thing, why are we there? We never last a major battle in Viet Nam, but we lost the war beacuse we never tried to win. This is the same thing. There will never be a "shining example of Democracy in Iraq". Just more killing and maiming of young kids who have been co-opted by lies. The day we leave, whether now or in ten years, there will be civil war, and the Shi-ites and Kurds will split into thier own countries, and the Sunnis will probably try to merge with Syria. This is not working and that is why public opinion is negative. Carp all you want about how the MSM is distorting things while you tow the party line, but if everything is so great, why can't we root out these guys and kill them? I'll tell you why. They don't want to end this war. They are making too much money off it.If this war was over, do you think oil whould be $60 a barrel? Follow the money. Bush is an oil man, so is Cheney. They are feathering their nests while at the same time driving GM into bankruptcy. Hope you like the 60% pay cut that is coming for you when that happens. Maybe you can get better pay at Toyota. Then again, they don't like UAW people there, so maybe Walmart will pick you up as a bagger. Jim, these guys are so crooked they make Clinton look like a choir boy.
