Enlighten Me! :)

Are you going to keep your job?

My plant is not on the list; my job is uncertain at best, however.

I think that Springhill, TN ought to be on the last to pay back Sen. Corker for his opposition to the bailout.

HOPECHANGE!!!

Or is this all Bush's fault?

jimmy, thanks, but my prayers go out to you and all affected!

Actually, it WAS all Bush's fault. $4.50 gal. gas, subsidies and tax breaks for Big Oil while telling the car companies to build a product that was "relevent" ( or basically "go shit in your hat! I'm too busy making my buddies rich"). Yes, he did throw them a bone because he didn't want to kill the biggest manufacturing industry in America (didn't want to be bothered with the unpleasant restructuring of it either, too busy taking sedatives).
Obama really had no choice but to force GM and Chrysler into bankruptcy. The problems were just too big to solve without it. At least he is supplying the funding to see them emerge as viable going concerns. The Fascist Bush regime would have sat by and let them go into liquidation.
Please, no speeches about the free market. 20-30,000 UAW members are going to lose their jobs. It could have been 100-200,000 had Obama not acted.

And that's how California came to fall too. It's all Bush's fault we spent money like drunken sailors on Unicorns, Rainbow Machines, and Fluffy Bunnies - not the SEIU or anybody like that with a war-chest, the Media, and a fleet of paid demonstrators ready to demonstrate - to insure Sacramento kept spending money on guaranteed pay raises in perpetuity for-ever-and-ever For The Children while making their buddies rich.
And now they're out there protesting and demonstrating, not to shave those drunken sailors with a rusty razor.

The fascist Bush regime? Hmmm...Frankly, more and more folks are realizing the man they voted for doesn't understand, nor care about them, nor the free market. Children are running the White House. Job losses are inevitable in any industry. But there is no such thing as too big to fail. Capitalism without failure is like religion without sin. When the government bails everyone out, and takes a majority stake, it is nationalism. The socialist Obama regime has much to answer for.

The the Conservative UAW Guy, I wish You and your colleagues well. Courage.

There WERE children running the White House. Lil' Jr. did a wonderful job screwing things up beyond all recognition. Go drink your grape kool-aid with the rest of the true believers.

And now Obama is completing the transition to Fascism - it's defined by state-run major industries, including banks and the financial industry. Autos are just another. Soon it will include healthcare and medicine.
It already includes Education and the Environment.

I'd say there's more than enough blame to go around between those two. Why blame just one or the other? The one-two punch of unnecessary war followed by socialism seems to have done the trick...

Can't argue with you Robert M. Obama has done little to reverse a lot of Bush's policies. Probably worried Cheney will shoot him in the face!

Still, I'm willing to give the guy more than 6 months to turn it around. If things are still this screwed up in a year, I'll be right in there complaining about him as much as I did Bush. That's what is great about being an independent. You can complain freely about either side when they are screwing up.

IMO he's not trying to turn it around, he's going straight after command-and-control. Ensuring that the economy tanks and printing money to handcuff the states and businesses is leading us to National Socialism on the Italian model of 1934. Sheesh, now they even want Fiat to run Chrysler? De-ja vue.

I find it kinda hard to understand how Chrysler, after being rolled by the Germans, is going to do any better with the Italians.
They'll get Jeep, the minivans, maybe the Charger, and dump the rest while selling Italian cars out of those dealerships that do get to stay open.

I'm not sure either, what is it that Fiat makes that will even sell here? Americans are by-and-large physically of bigger stature than Europeans (or Brazillians where Fiat sells a lot of cars). Not everybody wants to buy a Mini Cooper-sized skateboardmobile.
Looking at their Australian model lineup is not encouraging, the biggest sedan has a 1.9 litre "Sport Disel" engine? Fiat owns Alfa Romeo, so maybe it will bring that premium line back to the US.
At least selling Fiats will provide many jobs for mechanics.

"Fascist Bush regime." You don't even know what that term means. If you did, you know that it is completely inappropriate to deem his presidency that way.

Not that that stopped any libtards from saying it. What's next, Bush is Hitler? Idiot.

Mr Wideass Burp:
"Fascism, comprises a radical and authoritarian nationalist political ideology (RE: Patriot Act)and a corporatist economic ideology(IE:AIG, TARP, "too big to fail,etc.). Fascists advocate the creation of a single-party state. Fascists believe that nations and/or races are in perpetual conflict whereby only the strong can survive by being healthy, vital, and by asserting themselves in combat against the weak.Fascist governments forbid and suppress criticism and opposition to the government and the fascist (READ NEO-CON)movement.Fascism opposes class conflict, blames capitalist liberal democracies for its creation and communists for exploiting the concept. In the economic sphere, many fascist leaders have claimed to support a "Third Way" in economic policy, which they believed superior to both the rampant individualism of unrestrained capitalism and the severe control of state communism. This was to be achieved by a form of government control over business and labour .No common and concise definition exists for fascism and historians and political scientists disagree on what should be in any concise definition."

So in my opinion, it is a govt. bought and paid for by corporate interests for the purpose of concentrating wealth into the hands of a corporate elite as well as undermining the middle class and the poor. Also, in reality, we live in a one party state as the difference between Republicans and Democrats is small as evidenced by the minute changes around the margins since Obama has taken power. As DirtCrashr stated, both parties are about getting more and more control on the levers of power.
It is also seen in the demonization of Hispanic immigrants (documented or otherwise) and unprovoked war (Iraq).

No, Bush is no Hitler, he's too stupid to be that sucessful. So are you.

Since when is small-government, low-tax, traditional value, Conservativism a big Statist Neo-Con thing?
Socialists advocate a single-party state (it's "Progressive" because it's more "rational") and believe (and work to implement/sustain) nations and/or races are in conflict because it makes it easier to run their simplistic class-based identity-politic propaganda machine and take advantage of those nations.
National Socialists became in conflict with International Socialists who wanted them to support International efforts with their finances -- and when they didn't the Internationals described the Nationals as Fascist. (see: Mussolini - self-described as originally and always, a Socialist Man.) He succeeded in tying Business to the largesse of Government, to benefit from the taxes and regulatory structure against their weaker business opponents. It was National Socialist Government (with the Army behind it and Police in front) who bought and paid-for Industry and Business - not the other way around. Big Business likes and will agree with Government regulation when the Government makes its job easier. Yeh, and that kills small business like Roosevelt did in the 30's with all his regulatory crap. And Obama today.
I think we disagree about the nature and evolution of Fascism.

hi there Jimmy..HAPPY FLAG DAY MY FRIEND..Long may she wave!!

"Anonymous" - That's pretty good for a liberal toadie. Who helped you out with the big words? Douche.

Go fuck yourself, Gunfighter wannabe

Anonymous = Nobody.

"$4.50 gal. gas, subsidies and tax breaks for Big Oil"

There were no subsidies, and without the tax breaks, gas prices would have been even higher. Bush tried to lower gas prices by opening up domestic oil resources but the Dems kept balking him.

"The Fascist Bush regime would have sat by and let them go into liquidation."

The only fascist thing Bush did was the bailouts at the end, really.

DirtCrasher; Chrysler has nowhere to go but up. Their cars are dead last in quality of anything sold in the US. And they have gotten worse lately.
