As Roci of Rocinante's Burden (a good blog if you haven't been there) mentioned, the irony of the last "terrorism incident" is that terrorists could have a field day on an army base due to federal firearm regulations. The only times they would face any remotely serious immediate response would be from MPs (who have pea shooters compared to some of the rifles gunmen could bring on base) and if the terrorists were stupid enough to wander down to a range when a unit was qualifying at target practice.

I always have gun debates with people at work. They always claim that young people can never use a gun responsibly...until I remind them that I took my first shot from a Ruger 10-22 at the age of 8, and I have neither hurt nor killed someone.
